. . . played in 3 premierships, helped shape some at the Tigers. Tactical and determined and understands what is required to win flags.
Assaulted a young player and lost the support of his playing group? Same bloke yeah?
Surely he'll be a great success!

Hardwick was destroying Richmond for years according to their supporters.

Hardwick has taken the Tigers to the finals in 7 out of his 11 seasons

Buckley was a complete dud until suddenly they were in a Grand Final (supporters might have been on the money here though).

Buckley has coached the Pies to 5 finals series in 9 years, his worst season had 9 wins

Goodwin was taking Melbourne nowhere, supporters virtually united in wanting him sacked.

Goodwin took the Dees to the finals in his second season, a 9th last year and will play finals this year

Hinkley has been pilloried for years and years by Port supporters.

Pilloried for years, but has taken them to finals 4 out of 8 years in charge

All of these coaches had shown they were capable quite early, in 2020 Teagues coaching record was worse than 2019, 2021 is currently worse than 2020, for where the list is at, it’s crap.

Let’s say Teague stays and they clear out majority of of assistant coaches. Who do we head hunt to replace them?

Dean Solomon
Leppitsch
Sam Mitchell
Campo
Bolton 😂
Craig McCrae
Caracella
Given the way Geelong have transformed within a few weeks from slow movers to modern run n gun while keeping defensive transitions ... throw the cheque book that way!

Since won 3 flags as an assistant. Knows his stuff.
Make no mistake, Balme was the steady hand at the club that took the ideas of the head coach, facilitated the teaching of the assistants and was the main force in guiding the development of the club's culture.
Yes, Leppa certainly did his job.
But to say he did any more than that would be a mistake.

Should we speak to Brad Scott? Or Pyke? Or Matthews? Maybe set up a proper coaching and support structure as the new Carlton way?

An interesting read:

Maybe we set up a real coaching and support structure with Teague as the new Carlton way? Not this part time bullshit with Woosha.

Either way, we start with a thorough review of the football department. Brad Lloyd, do you really have your shit together? It's always easy to comment on what others should do...

next year of course - the sport doesn't stop because a few disgruntled kiddies get upset about results.........and the one after that and the one after that.....

Leppa (Senior coach) grabbed a player by the jumper and pulled him down some steps or something?
Zac O’Brien was the player, Leppa lost his cool because Zac told an assistant coach (Woewodin) to get ****ed over the phone on the bench

Leppa (Senior coach) grabbed a player by the jumper and pulled him down some steps or something?

Just looked it up, SBS, ABC, The Age, HS all ran the story, all bar the Age saying he grabbed him by the jumper, the Age saying he grabbed him by the throat and pushed him against the wall. Leppitsch and the Lions said he grabbed him by the jumper and didn’t push him against the wall,

There is nothing about stars, with both player and coach admitting afterwards they were in the wrong, doesn’t sound like much in it.

I quite liked Scott as a coach, he got a lot out of that North side. Would make a good assistant.

When doing your job is being an assistant coach to a level that the team you're assisting to coach wins 3 flags in 4 years, being a part of that successful club, I would say is more relevant than a failed stint prior to that, even if it involved "assault".

Calmed down a bit from before.

I think Teague deserves at least another season with actually a decent, well credentialed assistant coaching support staff.

The AFL is partly to blame for forcing club's to cut back hard on Soft Cap spending on assistant coaches and fitness staff etc.

I am now actually asking myself has the Board and Liddle actually given Teague enough resources and capable assistants in all facets of the football dept ?

Anyhow David Teague is a very good person from all reports and I desperately want him to succeed as coach of Carlton.

I would like time over the next fortnight for the players and coaching staff to catch a breath and have a solid evaluation of what has gone right and wrong this season.

Touchwood Charlie Curnow should be back soon after the bye, which is better than a visit from Santa.

I hate how the culture of this club took such a dreadful emotional toll on Brendon Bolton, would hate to see the same happen to DT.

The fact we are never getting flogged any more is a positive that rarely gets mentioned.

After a brief stop at Cuckoo/Overreaction Station..i am firmly back on The Teague Train.

The malaise at this club and the 'culture' runs far deeper than The Coach.

The most sensible course of action is to stop doing what we have done so many times in the past, back our coach in, and provide him with better staff/assistants.

We need to mature and evolve as a football club (not just referring to the supporters, but especially the board)

I think Teague deserves at least another season

Why?
Since he got the Senior job (after his caretaker 11 weeks), what has he shown as a coach that suggests he deserves another year?
Is it the game plan? Improvement from players? A hardened resolve amongst the playing group. Astute tactics? What?

I like Teague, was happy when he got the job. But he's shown nothing since then except that he's not up to it.

As I said before, he has not exactly been given a stellar assistant/support panel. Probably one of the worst (Least in terms of credentials) in the league.

Also we do not how hamstrung/disruptive this whole COVID crisis has had on Teague and his coaching and trying to get some kind of continuity and rhythm in his game.

We are no longer getting flogged almost on a weekly basis anymore, and we have been in most games up until the final quarter this season.

Sure, we are not getting the wins we wanted, but it's bit of a strawman's argument to suggest we have not improved at all undrr Teague.

Sacking Teague now or at the end of the season would be the easy way out.

Tje board need to pull their socks up and do a through internal review with regards to every aspect of the machinations of our football dept over the rest of the season and see how they give the resources and people that will be of asset to Teague and the players in 2022 and beyond.

We cannot afford doing another quick fix.
