Do you keep giving your child money even though they spend it on drugs? People who don't mindlessly continue to buy memberships are just as committed to the club as others, they're just expressing it differently. Don't be ridiculous 'good footy fans' are not the ones who support their club no matter how bad it is. They're better known as St Kilda supporters. Maybe you'd enjoy their company?

Unconditional support.
The mantra of the brain dead and lazy …

Keep blaming sos. He will be Liddle and Lloyd’s scapegoat. The one person who stood up to the boys club and knew the coaches and development program were below par.
He didn’t bring in Williams Fogarty or Saad. Yes he had some fails but left plenty of money in the Cap for the mates club to stuff up. Pick 8 for Saad? Williams 6x850k? Fogarty?
Cain’s pick Betts?

Stood up to the boys club and knew development was sub par??

Right, and what did he do about that in his 5 years at the club.

Oh and also, for posterity, SOS was responsible for recruiting
Sumner
Kerridge
Lamb
Lang
Pickett
Marchbank
Palmer

Just to name a few...

I would love to believe that but our club picked it's last coach on a groundswell opinion over good processes. We're (carlton) very reactive to groundswell opinions and external noise it seems.

I'd hope that it stops, it hasn't got us very far. Maybe there will be some realisation that it can't continue like that. I want them to ignore the outside noise, leave it to supporters to get wound up by that stuff and just make decisions based on what's best for the future of the club.

I'm not one that thinks SoS should be accorded deity status but to be fair of all the players you listed only one was meant to be a long term answer for us and that's Marchbank. Unfortunately, injuries put paid to that.
The rest were longshots who cost nothing or helped us to get others and were there mainly to plug some short term holes.

Are you seriously comparing being a loyal club member to a drug addict ?

I hate losing as much as you, but I am not going to not still buy memberships because we are struggling. As I said, I know just how close this club came close to folding.

Being a member every year/season since 1996 (which was the age when I was allowed to start going to the footy by myself since I had no Father growing up)

Don't know what your problem is, I am certainly not bothered at all by you questioning my supporter 'credentials'.

for some time I was of the view that there must be something under the surface with Teague. Some calm resolve and master plan/sense of direction that I couldn’t detect.

maybe there is, but the sight of him scratching his chin as we got overwhelmed by the dogs a month ago just about did for me.

ive seen nothing since that fills me with confidence in him or his game plan. Or even presents a sense of urgency/non corporatist bullshit.

We have the talent on the list, plenty will put their hands up to coach. The next group just need a sustainable modern game plan.
Be interested to know who you think those 5 or more generational talents are?
Stars/potential champions he means
Walsh, Weitering, McKay, C Curnow.
Not sure who the 5th is.
Maybe he thinks Stocker?

Walsh, Weiters, Harry, Charlie and Cripps are generational talents.
They would be the core of a side beginning to challenge if effectively coached.

Our “mid tier” players are as talented as on any list.

The components are fine, it’s the process that is flawed.

We are the worst coached side in the comp.
Find me a club with more underwhelming coaching staff or a more incomprehensible game plan...

Spare me the we’re Brisbane 2018. Cats 2006 or Richmond 2016 bullshit.

Find me a worse coached club?

I'm using an extreme example to get a point across, doesn't take 2 brain cells to figure out im referring to the simple concept of reinforcing bad behaviour.

Couldn't care less about how long you've supported the club or why. You're the one who was telling other supporters how to support. Not the other way round

Helped us get who?
Marchbank and Plowman?
Great lot of help that's been

Not enough heat on the players... their lack of resolve and fight is astonishing. Some poor leadership.

Next week will tell us a lot about the team. Can DT get them confident again? I thought yesterday we had 5 min bursts and then a skill error or lack of pressure ensued and the players dropped their heads.

DT is not buried yet. Lets see if he can shake the team out of this slumber.

Gold Coast Suns says hello. They have more talent than us quite frankly.

SOS and his flawed micro management style of rebuilding is not copping enough criticism. We have nowhere near a list capable of challenging for a flag. It may be hard for some here to digest, but i think most neutral observers would agree with me.

The fact we are going to get rid of another coach in 5 years is very much a testament that our latest rebuild has failed.

I certainly do not expect us to play finals next year under a new coach, we have to accept the fact we are in for another mini rebuild of sorts.
This.

I think he new a little more than you. Some players were brought in for one or two years. Kerridge/Plowman part of Menzel trade.
Didn’t give away much for other players other than Marchbank. Pretty good player until he broke his neck snd did an acl. Didn’t clog the list up until the boys club came along. Plenty left in the salary cap and the boys club use it all in one off season.
Dumb dumb dumb!!

Cerra won’t make our list better. And I think he’s a very good player. He’ll come in and he’ll go backwards. Until we get a winning culture it doesn’t really matter what players we bring in, we’re not going to go anywhere.

Get some posters think culture is overrated. It ain’t. Developing a winning mentality is what professional sporting clubs do. Anyone who thinks otherwise is factually wrong. Until everyone in our footy department “jells” and the players want to work with each other for 100% of the game, (particularly when we don’t have the ball) we’ll stay where we are.

If we are bringing someone in, I want them to have some aggression

I thought like you up until this week. I kept saying to myself next week they will show this, do that. They may, but it likely won't last long. It's a bit bigger than just getting confidence atm.

Leaked the 17 most points this season and only scored the 10th most.... via his gameplan of "score more the opposition" we need to be at least 2nd for scoring. Would Ross take an 9 week trial?

l am sure every club could reel off a similar volume of failures, he took over a list from ground zero, overall he did a pretty good job, more the fact we have not developed & improved players, even established players Martin/Williams etc are going backwards.

The list has a solid foundation, sure it still needs some tinkering midfielder/key defender, we need to get the other things right coaching/development/game plan etc.

As sad as it is, I've come to the conclusion that Teague is finished. His end might not be immediate but it will come. That game was so poor, particularly given the circumstances. When there is a perceived lack of effort (rightly or wrongly), it doesn't end well. This adds to a string of games this year that have not been acceptable.

I'm really surprised that more people are not mentioning Buckley as a replacement. He would be my first choice. Experienced but not past it. Excellent tactically / strategically. Took his team to within a kick of a flag without a decent key forward. Very articulate and, in my view, authentic. And he's available right now. He was part of their off season debacle but I don't think he was the main culprit. We could do a lot worse

What shocked me last night was Williams looks lost even at half back-- he must of been getting direction from a Davis or Haynes at GWS by the way he is playing as he getting worse each week -- thought he would have more ability to lead and direct than what he has shown .. bit of a see ball get ball plays for his own possesions--
parks needs direction when to impact the contest as that third tall instead of ball watching (development )--
Martin has always been a conditional talent but Saad Williams have shown they are coachable which suggests to me our problems are coaching and structure --
