I'd be shocked if Teague was sacked at this point.

The last 4 weeks tells me the players are still committed, resilient and the coach hasn't 'lost' them. We've played some really good footy in patches in that period and all year really.

Most of us have seen Teague make some good in-game changes either a player's position or style change. Just on the weekend Willo was sent to play defensive forward and in the second half we really cut off their short kicks through the middle.

Since the bye our whole structure/gameplan has changed a bit where we've stiffened our defence by sending more numbers back...our defensive shape has improved from this. We're also seeing Dow/Kennedy/Fisher/SPS get more midfield minutes.

These are all positive signs that the coach has a clue. Don't forget since the bye we are a coach down with Barker leaving as well...adding a good assistant would make a big difference.

Well put. He is appears to be a good tactical and match day coach - think he has issues with being too close to the players and learning about development and trusting younger blokes - DEFINITELY think this is something that is learned as it will be forced upon him and he will lose the crutch he is leaning on from his first initial "bump" post Bolton in his honey moon period.

Bolton was developing the kids - he was preparing them for the future and sacrificing EASY wins to get games into the kids. Pretty much everyone agreed that was what Bolton was doing.

Teagues IMMEDIATE response on taking over was to play as many of the older players as possible and relegate the kids back to the VFL where some have BARELY seen a game since.

I have posted an incredibly exhaustive demonstration of this in previous threads as 100% statistically factual.

He let the buys play with freedom and got the "honey moon" wins. Very much like Rhyce Shaw - who also got the gig on a similar "bounce".

He has implemented an incredibly strict regime since taking over of NOT playing the youth - with I think only 1 maybe 2 national draft selections debuting under him.

So in my view Teague has some positives and negatives. He is fiercely loyal, I think an incredible tactition frequently almost getting us over the line and turning around 5 6 goal deficits - and in my view absolutely the coach we need.

The problem however is that he tasted "victory" with older bodies and REFUSES to develop, loyalty rears its head and he refuses to drop under performing players. Newnes - just should NOT BE IN THE TEAM.

If Teague remains he needs to be forced to develop as it costs the club long term - and in my view if he refuses to play the kids and returns to / sticks with older bodies and we fail to make the 8 then he has signed his own papers.

Make the 8 he should stay.

Bolton had a 18 man press all in defence … only problem when we won the ball literally had no one to kick to …Bolton himself admitted he had lost it at the end ….so please do not rewrite history

Teague kept players forward … game 1 v Lions we came back from 6 goals … we couldn’t kick 6 goals under Bolton

unfortunately for Teague and the Blues … the last 2 years we’ve been way too loose which has seen 5+ goal turnarounds the norm …

Barker gone a big ✅. … I think we need a coach with premiership experience to go next step … whether Clarkson Leppitsch Voss or even Luke Power with Support

Dow was brought in as sub - then dropped. He was brought back in - played 5 minutes, was injured and dropped - so really ? No. Just no.

SPS was moved after an absolute media sh1t storm that the club couldn't continue to ignore - it was ridiculous. He went into the midfield and played as well as any other - and was dropped. Teague forced Fisher into the forward line - there are articles listing how disillusioned Fisher was with this - specifically Teagues call. Teague persisted with Setterfield almost all year - he was terrible and kennedy was doing really well - we lost Docherty and Cripps - welcome aboard Kennedy - HENCE MY POINT.

If Teague is leaving decisions on "who plays where" to his assistants - then he needs to go - honestly that would be beyond ludicrous. Murphy was pegged forward - and is injured - Owies, Pittonet is injured - TDK, Fogarty is underperforming in my view and Stocker should be in the midfield where he belongs - its almost a comedy act watching him in the back line.

Match reports I have seen have heaped praised on Honey - endlessly - in fact I have watched then put together video packages of just how good he has been - Ramsay had 28 possessions and that was enough to give Murphy another crack in the seniors after a couple of short kicks and a one armed failed tackle.

So no. Not in my view - in the least. Emphatically, empirically, statistically.

So, when a player is brought in and plays well it's in spite of the coach, when he plays badly it's the coach's fault.

Let's look at Stocker. In the beginning, the story was that the coach 'hated' him, that the coach would find a reason to drop him regardless of performance. he gets a spot on the team and you can see that with each passing week that he is becoming more comfortable with and proficient in the role that he has been given, He has played an important part for the team( we do realise that it's a team sport?).Now we 'must' move him out of that position, my question would be what is the big hurry to do that?

Dow, SPS, and Kennedy all went back to the reserves and worked on specific areas of concern before earning their recalls. I hate to tell you but that's called development and it is the appropriate way to do it.

Honey and Ramsay, we all know are close but obviously not been deemed to be quite ready. I have no doubt they will get their opportunities when they are. You mention the match reports, read them fully and you will see what they are working on still.

You mention media reports of players like Fisher being disillusioned, this is the same media that was reporting Cripps as gone yeah? There's no evidence that any of this is true and from what we see the team is a happy one.

So, when it boils down to it, there's no real evidence being presented here, just a sack Teague narrative which you can't be moved on even a little as things have changed. You can of course present an opinion, everyone can and you're welcome to it but don't call any of it 'fact'.

One thing we will never know would grant Thomas of won a premiership with the Saints .. it's easy to discard hard to keep .. Teague has worried me with his in ability to move his staff -- but I have to admit he still has the group -- he needs a good director not a good mentor .. he suits the group in my opinion as they are all our gun players are very reserved ..
let's see what happens but if club keep him I also happy

This has happened in 3 games in 2021, out of 17. And in one of those games we had 9 scoring shots within that 5 goal run - can't blame that on the coach alone.

It might've been more frequent last year but I wouldn't exactly say it's been the norm in 2021.

In fact I'd say tightening up and ensuring that hasn't happen as frequently is a tick to Teague and the coaching group, but hey...

Which part of Leppitch's first stint in the role gave the impression he'd be a suitable candidate for a second crack at it?

Maybe the biggest concern is the whispers that he might not have all the younger players.
Will be interesting to see who gets moved on this off season, and if anyone chooses to go elsewhere.

I'm really interested to know which particular players these are, I'm betting they are the fringe type players who think they should be playing as is the case always with these type of players.

We're not losing anyone of great consequence from what I can tell, so it's hardly a concern. The Players who we want to keep re-sign.

Which whispers are these? Reckon I follow things pretty closely and I haven't heard anything about these whispers.

Care to elaborate?

I think that you'll find the origins of those whispers somewhere here;

Ah the made up whispers.

No specifics, no names, just 'many' young players leaving if Teague stays, I'm thinking this may amount to 1 or 2 who aren't getting a game.

Soapy...

Here is an enormous grain of salt. It's not quite big enough, but it will have to suffice.

You mean like Grigg in 2010. Wanted to be gifted a first team slot but didn't want to work for it. Got to the end of his contract, said I'm going to sign a new one and the next day, after he'd ****ed off to Thailand, his manager walks in and says that he wants to be traded to Richmond.

There will be a lot more retirees this year than previously. Maybe one shocking one. LOB from all indications wants out... but I would like to see him retained and given a shot on the wing next year. Right now, we just have to wait for the end of the year. If we can storm into the finals, a few of those fringe players who want out might suddenly change their minds.

I'd hope that LOB is retained too but if he has his mind made up to leave then so be it. I'm nort seeing a mass walk out of young players like Brisbane had 6 or 7 years ago.

think Leppitsch might have been at Richmond since …. Premierships both as a player and assistant coach !!

I am actually seeing players wanting to stay at the club. I think that they can see that things are going to get better going forward. Some new coaches, a attitude change from on high, and things could change massively cultural wise within the club. I just don't see a mass walkout of the young players either.

Not the greatest of records as a senior coach at Brisbane, 14 `wins from 66 games, what makes anybody think he has shown more than what Teague has as a coach? He's shown less.

maybe he won’t but …

Smith - Barassi - Blight - Goodwin ?
Haley - Sheedy - Thompson - Hardwick
Kennedy - Parkin - Matthews - Scott - Leppitsch Voss Power ???

study history … MOST premiership coaches follow a line …. not full proof

Hmmm, here are 6 that wouldn't shock me, and another that would be very disappointing and unexpected, but perhaps not shocking.
My fervent hope is that if Levi retires then the club appoints him as goalkicking coach.

On April 1st. Just to see this place go into meltdown. Some would spontaneously combust.
