Not the greatest of records as a senior coach at Brisbane, 14 `wins from 66 games, what makes anybody think he has shown more than what Teague has as a coach? He's shown less.

Well, Teague hasn't won 3 flags as an assistant (or even 1).
Many would consider being part of a multiple premiership winning coaching panel to be valuable experience.

So now we measure assistants by flags? I consider it valuable to have premiership experience but not entirely essential.
There's been many with that premiership experience who failed as coaches as well and there have been those with none that succeeded.

The most recent coach who some are calling the greatest of all time with his 4 premierships had zero experience of premierships as a player, one Alistair Clarkson.

Yes, Clarko left Port weeks before they won the flag.
But then Beveridge, Simpson and Hardwick all coached under him.

If LOB needs to leave that's fair enough -- watching the few VFL game I have seen kemp Will free up someone to play wing -- carrol will play wing -- both will go past him quickly ..
I doubt honey or Ramsay will go anywhere as clubs won't waste a list spot on players they haven't seen at top level -- there not many other young players we haven't tried that we can't keep ..

Okay, but my point stands, Premiership experience isn't the be all and end all of things. All i know is that we seem to look for new reasons every week to prove that Teague will never be a good coach without having given him time to grow in the role and prove himself either way. I don't want to see him removed before we actually find out.

Someone had a quiet word in my ear the day before Barker left the club saying that certain mods had the idea that I had a negative agenda against Barker. I didn't have a negative agenda against Barker... I just thought he was a sh*t coach and should be nowhere near the club in any form of coaching and developement role, and I wasn't shy in coming forward about it either... a view supported by a lot of members of this board.

Now I am seeing someone who definitely has a negative agenda against David Teague who, and lets be honest here, has been in the job for 2 years and has been surrounded by average assistant coaches. His career progression is mirroring that of Bomber Thompson, Alistar Clarkson, and Damian Hardwick. They all started off a bit slow, built up the list to what they wanted... and then went boom. Since then, they have all won premierships... because the club had faith in them and eventually put all the right resources behind them to succeed.

What happens if we give Teague the flick without giving him a real chance and he goes off and gets picked up by another club as their senior coach and he leads them to a few premierships after giving him the assistant coaches and other support staff to help him realise that. Are all the nay sayers going to come out of the woodwork then berating the club for being so short sighted as to get rid of Teague? He has another year on his contract, the club is starting to put the off-field resources in place for success, in terms of coaching and other support staff, and he has shown improvement over the last couple of weeks. Lets give him the time and see what happens at the end of next year.

haha he will never get another senior coach again , prepare yourself my friend he ain’t surviving beyond this season

it is unfortunate the way he was appointed with no due diligence and then after given the role , wasn’t supported properly , but that’s too late now unfortunately and there is no way the club will give him a 3 year extension at the end of this year and there is no way , they will let him coach next year with only one year to go

marginally amusing when some idiot picks an option and when it plays out runs around with his underpants on his head in a comical display of triumph......

And I care why ?? How about you put on mask on your eyes also !!
Prepare yourself

think Leppitsch might have been at Richmond since …. Premierships both as a player and assistant coach !!

A post which he left to explore other opportunities. Highly unlikely he steps straight back into a senior coaching gig.

No response to the rest of the post? Or are we only interested in hanging shit on the coach without context?

I'm not sure that we necessarily need more time to find out, or that we have more time to waste. The review should provide some answers.
But we've wasted (for various reasons, some out of our control) the last almost 4 years, so that we are behind where we should be.
Hence the review.
And I think it's hard to mount an argument that we should keep a coach who hasn't had enough time to grow into the role rather than appointing the best coach in the last 20 years, for example.

I'll say one thing, the best coach in the past 20 years is very rarely if ever the best coach for the next 20 years.

I also think we are right where I thought we'd be this year, I don't agree with us being behind after the demolition job we did on the playing list. I had us 7-12 this year, we'll land in there somewhere.

Your point is well made. Parkin was one of the best coaches from 1977-2000, wasn't that good after that really. You'd think that there would have been clubs lining up to pull him out of retirement after he left us.

I don’t know what that means but let’s talk in 6 weeks ... clearly you are going to have a lot of emotions to let out

Parko was a smart man, he knew it was over when he retired. He'd been ready since the mid 90s, never even expected to be there for 95.

A wise man knows when he is finished. A fool keeps on going passed their use by date. John Elliott for example. The smart money says he should have stepped down as president after 1995. But no… he kept going, got into a shitfight with Ron Evans and almost destroyed the club.

Pagan was almost cooked, because he only had one good tactic left. Pagan’s paddock. And he was lucky we had the perfect forward for that tactic, but after a year, other teams started dropping someone into the hole and the tactic was done and so was Pagan.

The whispers are accurate
See anyone can say that. The actuaity is that maybe LOB might think that he should be playing more games. Everyone else of his vintage has been playing on a regular basis.

Of the newer draftees Ramsay, Kemp and Honey have had two years on the list along with Philp who is injured long term. Kemp is coming back from long term injury and should have no expectation that he should have played seniors by now. Ramsay (pick in the 40's) and Honey (rookie draft) are going along o.k. but have things to continue working on - for example Honey averages about 10 possessions a game and drifts in and out of games.

Carroll, Parks and Durdin are first year players Parks has had s few runs but needs to do more work on plenty of aspects of his game. Carroll and durdin haven't seriously been mentioned as being close yet although of them all I think that Carroll might end up being the best player if the lot.

If you agree with this and from all accounts Kemp is going to sign a two year extension then only LOB, Honey and Ramsay potentially fall into the group that you are definitely saying are going to leave at the end of the year. I would think that it might be footballing suicide for Honey and Ramsay as there would be just as much chance that no one took them. Maybe LOB might find a new home.

So as you are asserting that the whispers are accurate let us know who is leaving.

Once again he doesn't need an extension. He is contracted to coach us next year. We have to either sack him and pay him out for next year or let him coach out his contracted period.
