Disagree about the midfield being too slow. We're fine, faster on average then plenty of other midfields that have won premierships. We don't play to their strengths though, and for that yes wick something went horribly wrong in communication between coach and type of player he wants added to the team and making sure we have adequate list balance. Running into this season everyone could see we couldn't cover tall players being injured. I do think the list is strong enough to be way better than this. The talent, when it wants to, has won games this year and flexed how good it could be. Could....

Don't need a mini-rebuild. Just clear out the old blokes, give the talented kids a chance to build.
With somebody who can actually coach.

I reckon we won't see instant results regardless of what we do off field. Gunna need some time for things to settle and then gel.

Might not be instant, but other clubs (Sydney, *, Crows, even North) have shown that it can turn around pretty quickly.
We're competitive on talent. bring in a proper system, we'll be were we should be soon.

I’m okay with them waiting till end of the year. Season is written off and we’ve already got rid of Barker.
With the budget cuts if Teague left we’ve be severely understaffed with coaches
 
Although the effort in that 3rd quarter today was abysmal the whole game was clear display in the lack of competency in the coaching team. They knew the team was playing without its key forward. Didn't try moving the magnets around until the game was lost. Opted for the same game style as if McKay was playing, allowed North to score over and over again on transition and through the corridor.
 
If Clarkson is out which based on his recent interview he is. You don’t talk that passionately and aggressively if there’s a chance you are leaving. He was very firm and linked his contract at hawthorn to his marriage and that they are for life (term of the contract).

if he’s out then who?
Ross Lyon?
Brad Scott?
Untried?

My pick is Brad Scott but if not I’d go Yze, Caracella or Jamie Graham.

Its a shame Longmuir got the freo job, I’ve always rated him very highly

Longish bow to hold him wholly responsible, but I agree with the sentiment. Have a bloke at the helm who has seen fit to surround himself with mates, all being given jobs a step up from their previous.

As has been pointed out by others, we didn’t just get a coach with training wheels, we have a footy management team lacking any proven operators in their positions. Recipe for disaster.

Have to right the ship without totally gutting the crew. Harder task than many appreciate. We need some stalwarts in key roles and some evident creativity in their assistants. With soft cap constraints this is not an old style, open cheque fix. Do we have the right administrators to make the big decision?

Players make coaches . Their in game mistakes / goal kicking leadership and lack of intent doesn’t help .

We need a coach who will lay the law down, not play favorites and get rid of any player who won't buy in.

The problem with backing Teague is he has failed to reach and/or teach the players. Having support around him doesn't necessarily change that.

It's a risk to keep Teague and it's an unknown to sack Teague. Better the devil you know, or take the chance on a possible angel?
