So official countdown on to the presser , what do people think he will do ?

I think he is going to appeal
Given Our Daveys self centered style coupled with his command of the English language, it seems an odd call by those advising him
He's really been left with no choice but hold a press conference. I don't think its necessary, but the media won't forgive until they've had every extra piece of sensationalism they can scrape out of it. Only then will the media start on the "redemtption" angle as they have begun with Smith.

He might name names of others who knew. Not in order to come clean, but in the belief it will help to sprad the blame thinner. It is unlikely, but the sort of desparate self-serving thing he might do. (And, frankly, an accidental good thing if he did.) There's bound to be some attempt at a defence that ends up self-defeating (like Barnaby publicly questioning the paternity of his mistress' child).
I expect he will attempt to say the right things, like a politician in a scandal of their own making rather than meaningful manner. He just hits as they type of person who can't accept it is possible that he may have done something wrong.
His advisors have surely told him not to announce an appeal, but he may allude to the ACA's comments about that possibility in his defence attempts.

I'm expecting to hear ' I'm sorry , but ......'

I would be surprised if there is no attempt to at least push blame elsewhere or throw a few others under the bus with him

If he throws others under the bus he becomes a Gayle style pariah on the T20 circuit. Now Warner is not that smart but I don't think even he would do that.

His best move would be just to suck it up and do a Smith/Banfield style presser even if he knows he won't play for Australia again. Then announce his intention to become a T20 merc on his return after CA don't pick him.

Has he reached the dizzy heights of Kyrgios or Tomic as Australia's greatest flog ?
Kyrgios is actually a decent guy. Does a lot for charity and the tennis community in Canberra. Very generous with his time and his money. Sure, he's a hot head and a bit of a clown sometimes, bou won't hear a bad word from people who have actually met and associated with him. It's the talkback callers, morning show experts and those who tune in for 15 minutes of tennis a year who seem to tar Kyrgios with a bad brush.

Tomic on the other hand, is a flog who's pissed off pretty much everyone in tennis. Probably a much fairer comparison for Davey.

You jelly

Why would anyone be jealous of Warner??? He’s a national disgrace, a convicted cheat, has a life now he can’t support, his wife’s ‘history’ has been publically broadcast globally and he won’t be able to walk the streets without people s******ing at him, or worse, making ongoing comments. I nearly feel sorry for him.

i think he will take full responsibility, as he was basically responsible for the whole thing.
Smiths mantra just cost him, despite being forced into captaincy

may retire from international

I did it once, made an awful comment to an opposition player about a family member. It was 30 years ago, I can still remember where it was and the game it was in.

To this day I think "wtf was I thinking to say something like that?", although I can now see what was going on in my life at the time, and how it contributed to it all.

For many years I was ashamed but I realized eventually I had to forgive myself.

The main reason I say this is that comments like this (either from Warner or De Kock in this particular example) generally do not happen in isolation.

I play local cricket out in the country and the hard and fast rule is no comments about family or race. The family rule was broken one day when I went out to bat and an ex team mate ( that I am still mates with) waited until I had got to the crease and shouted out "Hey Jumbo, I fecked your wife last night". Now, the opposition players didn't know we were mates and you could see how uncomfortable they were with the comment...and the captain started walking over to my mate to have a word with him when I turned and said "Geez Bucks, that ain't cool, I married your sister".

I have scored a few hundreds in my time but for performances at the crease with bat in hand, that still ranks as my best effort

Is the Warner presser live online anywhere? Presume Cricket Australia won't publicise it in case he's lobbing grenades.
