3 years straight of the worst injury run in the Comp is no coincidence. He must be sacked at the end of season. Heads must roll and he is a good scapegoat.

I agree. But we were no better off under buttifant at the end.

Forget the injuries and assume they are bad luck.

The big question is our fitness up to scratch? Outside his first year the last 2 years we have fallen flat in the 2nd half of the year. Also this year from the word go we have looked well off even the bottom 8 sides in fitness. Is this because of a lot young players or is this because of Davoren.

Get rid of him, he's had 3 years and the fitness and conditioning of the list is getting worse by the year. The amount of injuries that happen at training can be squarely aimed at him not warming the players up correctly, I can handle players getting injured during the game as that's football, but the amount of injuries during training astounds me.
Who the answer is to head up the fitness program is I'm not sure, but I do know daveron is certainly not.

I think Butters had the team a lot fitter to win a flag.

Early doors he he us running well. Then it's all went pear shaped for some reason. Like a areas of life, the port fitness guys has found out, everyone catches up or passes you. We haven't been league leaders at much recently - as a football club we should be concerned with getting our afl and vfl teams as good as possible. All this talk of women's football, netball and other stuff is just a waste of time if we can't win flags and games of footy.

I think we are slowly losing the plot. Instead of becoming heavyweights again we are worried about other clubs concessions and salary caps. I couldn't give a stuff about any of that. All I want to see is us become like hawthorn. 4 and 2 and that, but many outsiders was seen as a crisis. We are 2-5 and falling off the planet and all I keep hearing is billshit.

Davoren has a triathlete background. How much swimming and bike riding we doing on game day?
People will jump in again and blame the conditioning guy that had them doing squats maybe.

If we did more squats and lifting we wouldn't have tackles being broken every second.

Brown and Cloke the fresh injuries, the sad thing is I doubt the club will do anything to fix our injury situation.

True. I'm finding it hilarious that Davoren survived by blaming everything on Matt Garvan and his weights squat regime. Obviously the two training programs clashed, but Davoren is solely responsible now.

Before Collingwood he was at the dogs.
Hopefully we don't have rocket and his connection to blame for Davoren sabotaging our players. (Edit it seems we really do have Eade to blame for Davoren, after Eade left the dogs Davoren only lasted one more year, then went to Stkilda for one year before coming to us when Malthouse pinched Buttifant for Carlton)

Just another cog in the mess that is our club at the moment.

The game had changed since 2011. Went from repeated sprints (what Buttifant trained us for- and correct in doing so) to a more endurance based game. We were not fit enough from 2012 onwards

That's something that's been on my mind a lot as well.
Not sure if it's true or not, but is it possible we have run our young guys too hard in the pre-season and that they are feeling tired out already? With the limited sub. rotations, further endurance training has obviously been a key aspect of the teams training heading into this year. But how hard can you push 20-23 year old guys who haven't been exposed to much AFL level physical intensity, let alone the increased running being demanded of them now. De Goey seems like an obvious example. Is he, and many of the less experienced guys, feeling cooked already??
