Agree with what you mean but surely it's in of itself a reference to pirates, being the pirate logo? I'm 100% on board with simply not having a nickname and adjusting our imagery away from lightning bolts however it happens.

I wonder whether the AFL would mandate that we need to have a nickname or whether we could just go by Port Adelaide.

I do wonder whether the Dockers coming in 2 years earlier made us want to steer away from anything maritime themed or whether they were already pretty set on Power by 1995

If we could wear our black and white PBs for all home games I would gladly have the club wear teal monstrosities as clashes.
