With the change to Daylight Saving Time last night, the times on BigFooty have gone a bit weird... now 2 hours behind the time here in Melbourne.

My computer updated the time automatically last night.

How do I fix this so the times are right on BigFooty??

Cheers!!

Same thing happened to me SeinDude. I doesn't really worry me about the time, but if I can fix it I'd like to.

the clock went back an hour instead of forward.

Guess the best thing to do is just move it forward a couple of timezones in the preferences seciton.

The same thing has happened at the commencement and ending of DLS time the last 2 years as well.

Seeing as everyone on bigfooty isn't in a DLS zone it is probably just best to make the adjustment by changing your timezones in your user CP.

I think the settings in user CP can be set to the below to reflect your current correct time.

NSW, TAS and VIC - GMT + 12 hours
SA and NT - no 1/2 hour increment so either chose half hour ahead or half hour behind?
QLD - GMT +11 hours
WA - GMT + 9 hours

Danni,

Thanks for that information. :)

Cheers!!

My main forum page says "All times are GMT +8 hours", which is right for here in WA (which doesn't have DLS, as it fades the curtains). Yet the time presently shown is GMT +7.

No real drama in any event.

carneagles that is what this whole thread is about, that on Sunday, the clock switched back an hour so instead of having your normal GMT + 8 hours, to get the correct time you need to make it GMT + 9 hours in your personal user cp settings. Or of course you can just leave it the way it is.

I realise that - more making the point that there's little point referring to GMT at all if the server's not running on GMT anyway.

But I accept that it's quite possibly beyond anyone's power to change, and it's no big deal anyway.

Cheers Danni, worked beautifully. :) I forget from year to year how to fix it. LOL Thanks.

Hate to say it but there's also an issue on the server, it being in the states, so I am changing the time in the admin panel.

This might undo your time zone changes...

It is now officially rooted.

For those in the East, its impossible to get the correct time with the current settings.

Well I could try and fix it, but would probably end up crashing the whole site.

So best leave it for you lot to do simple arithmetic of auto adding 3 or 4 hours dependig on your location, which of course won't be a problem seeing as it is grade 1 or 2 maths and you are all well above that ability.

Only takes a few seconds to adjust the time to make up the 4 hour difference, and you might find Hawaii is quite nice this time of year. :)

It's actually impossible.

I am 2 hours behind. My current setting is GMT +12.00. That is the highest parameter therefore i can't just "do simple arithmetic" to fix the problem.

You are unable to look at the time and quickly add the number 3 or 4 or whatever to the 'hour' figure in your head?

The Education system is certainly now proven to be abysmal.
