It was evidence of his high and consistent standards as an elite forward which go to support that this is a form slump/change in tack and not the end you wish it was.
You even support the above theory by quoting the man himself "not in great touch at the moment" and then continue to quote the other part of the strategy - he's still playing a role and still taking the best opposition defender.
Maybe Collingwood can roll out Travis Cloke again and get a 50+ goal a year forward

Glass houses. If you want to hang shit on an opposition player, at least have someone in your squad who can play the position in a meaningful way.
Reminder: since 2007 (ie since Hawkins debuted) Geelong have won as many flags as Collingwood have for nearly 70 years.
