Can't argue with any of those awards ...although I'd add Vince to the stupidity group ........kickouts and general field kicking atrocious and ineffectual

Thought Cook showed some very promising signs today.

He spends most the time like a kid with no friends wandering around the playground. In fact it looks like he is in tears most the time after someone stole the lunch his mum made for him.

Worse than Douglas.

 you have got to be kidding
sarcasm perhaps? Cook still looks far from an AFL player...it's young players like him that make Crows fans wonder why our youngsters take so long to develop. i think he used his pace once or twice today. his kicking is below average...so what else does he have going for him, other than his blonde hair.

worse than Douglas is an unfair statement, especially considering Douglas has years on Cook.

i thought Chris Schmidt looked promising today.

Add Doughty to the Redundant column. Seems to be competing with Edwards for the title of Clanger King.

We are too slow in the middle and all over the ground. Look at our team and vey few quick legs.

Edwards slow, Straightback slow, Burton slow, Walker sow, Vince not quick, Reilly not quick, Porps not quick, Thompson not quick. We are not able to break tackles as they are quicker, we cant run away from tackles. We cant beat our man to the ball. We cant run away from packs. wake up Craigy. Football is all about speed now.

Mcleod is 33 and is still in our five quickest players. You need ten quick players in the team these days like the teams we have played so far this year. Look above and I have named ten that are not quick.

Edwards, Burton, Hentshel, Jacky, Doughty to all go at the end of the year. Mcleod and Goodwin can still play. They are just being made to look worse as the guys around them are shocking.

And stop drafting ruckmen Rendell. You have stocked us up with tall crap. Davis a top 3 in his opinion. Are you blind mate He is already slow and is 20. Ok he played ok but he is never going to be mbetter than average. He is just going to get slower. You have got lucky with Danger and Otten. Draft some onballers.

And Rendell said he decided to take Davis after seeing one game. That is not due dilligence my friend

1.5/10

Fail.

Edwards and Doughty have been absolutely rubbish - I was amazed that Edwards was named 2nd best on the afc site

Cook - I am happy to be proved wrong however at the moment I am not sold, he is the "King of Fumbles" and seems to be slow to react to the game however given our lack of options I would persist

Rutten, IMO he still has a role however he needs to play to his strengths and that is not running the ball out of defence as he has been responsible for some many turn overs this year

Macca, I thought was one of our better players however I would like to see him play HF

I hate to say it - the game is passing rutten by at an almighty pace.

The game is nothing like it was even 2-3 years ago. He is still a gun in a contested situation against a big forward. But that is only about 5% of the game, the remaining 95% he is expected to be like a half back flanker.

Obviously a call made by someone who looked at the stats sheet without actually having watched the game. He was one of only 3 Crows to gather 20+ disposals - he had 25 to McLeod's 26 and Vince's 31. Only problem is that 10 of those 25 would have been clangers.

And the ones that were effective were not damaging in the slightest and were probably only 1 metre handballs on the half back line.

Just cannot make an impact. At the same time our midfield is crap.

He wouldn't fix our speed issues but he would help with clean clearances.

I know he hasn't got the tank to play permanent mid but i feel he needs a confidence boost and to get his hands on the ball early.

Let's face it, if he were fit he would likely be in our top 3 mids.

To generate better momentum for Porps and the team and to stuff up the oppositions defensive match-ups, let him start in the centre at the start of every quarter for the first 4 mins or so (however long the normal rotation is). Then swing him forward, then bench rest, then finish the all-important last section of the quarter back in the middle with the rest of our A-graders.

Did you ring in to 5AA after the game?

Porps may not have played.
Did Porps eat a few too many easter eggs? I know he has always been a solid unit but he has a touch of the "Johncock in Januarys" about him at the moment.

What a joke... really tired of people bagging the young lads!!! Cook has showed plenty of promise this season, and un like alot of his "senior" (i.e. guys that have played more then 10 games) team mates he actually tries to take the game on, doesn't look slow and fights to win the ball!!! He is definately not perfect, BUT HE HASN'T PLAYED 10 GAMES YET!!!

yeah cook looks ok and is trying to break the lines... not super quick, but one of our quickest... gets a bit of the ball. extrapolate that over the next 5 years and you have a very good midfielder

Maybe. A very astute football coach once said if you can't kick, you can't play. And he's been right on just about every occassion. Examples, Richo finished his career as he started, as too did Perrie, Jayson Daniels, James Manton, Anthony Ingerson the list goes on.

We all thought that David Gallagher might be a good midfielder once too. Cook is a trier, but he appears to be pigeon holes as a trier his entire career already. He's got an awful kicking style and his handball technique isn't much better, that won't change now. That is how he will be the rest of his career. Whether or not his running ability can get him through is another issue. He needs to stop turning inside the tackler because a decent U18 player can see that coming he telegraphs it so much. He at least tries to take the game on which is what we all want to see, so he has a big tick next to his name there, but the effort to run after Simpson in the 3rd yesterday was appalling. Simpson is not quick, no excuse to let him run 100+ metres alone to make play and set up a goal given everyone in the ground could see what was going to happen. The defensive side of his game needs work, but that will come with experience moreso than his disposal problems.
