Dear Chris Knights

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

Terrible post by yourself is more like it.

Chris needs to improve his disposal and his decision making. To centre the ball with a long kick to a 1 on 3 I still cant understand. Terrible game tonight

This is the problem with a lot of you on here. You are so quick to turn on a player like Knights, who has been so good with his disposal up until tonight. Pathetic.

His performance was poor, but after so many games where he has shown vastly improved disposal, and at 21 years of age, it is far from the end of the world.

FD88 rises above this nonsense. He pities you.

It's true, and this board is very predictable.

Win = YAYYYY we have gr8 youngsters. I <3 u Jericho.
Lose = OMG our whole side needs to be delisted. Christ, how does these guys get paid for this shit???

2 superstars of the comp (Bock and Brown) both kicked out on the full in field kicks tonight, and not only that, but pretty much everyone turned the ball over at some stage or other. What it was, I don't know, but both sides had a lot of people struggling to kick field kicks accurately.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again WE ARE DEVELOPING. We are not Geelong just yet.

For instance, look at the improvement of Maric tonight. I thought he was exceptional, and when he went off, it was no coincidence that Brisbane got a run on, and the momentum was never really back.

However, if next week he gets beaten by Ottens, you guys will be all over him calling him a dud.

:thumbsu:

Blaming individuals tonight is a cop out. The team as a whole starting with the coach was the real issue tonight.

Knights is my love-child but even I couldn't ignore his poor disposal and choice of options which directly led to 3 of Brisbane's goals.

On a positive note, disposal aside, IMO he was running back into good ball-hunting form, particularly in the last quarter, when he won several hard conteseted balls.

He's certainly struggling a tad at the minute macca. He'll be back in the swing of things soon though, sorry to tell you VVM.

I think you'll find I made this thread while the game was on, infact in the first quarter, same thing would be said with a win.

Oh and SpringChoke, go play with yourself a bit more mate, it will sooth your angst over others transgressions against you on Bigfooty.

Neil Craig says players being young isn't an excuse, he must hate the Crows and be a bandwagoner by your logic Springchoke

I dont think most people have 'turned' on Knights at all.

Its immature to suggest that people cant criticize a game, without judging it as a mortal insult against a player. Surely we've not that sensitive.

Knights is a good player, who had some poor ball use in the first half, and really, is not playing as well as he was last year. Hopefully he can turn it around.

As a general rule Knights receives a lot of cheap possessions with meaningless sideways kicks and handballs across half-back.

Since we know that disposal is not his strength, why is he being used this way? Couldn't someone like van Berlo, or even Goodwin, do this more effectively?

Then we could leave Knights to win contests, which he is good at.

Or the Marty Mattner impersonation award.

Took the words right out of my mouth, I'm not sure how he looked on TV, but from my perspective at the GABBA, it was like we'd done a mid-season trade without telling anyone, Knights for Mattner, it was the same runs where even he didn't know where he was going and would then try and pin point a bloke 60 metres away over 3 Brisbane players. Hope it was just a bad game, because as far as bad games go, that was right up there.

I agree that he didn't have a great one but he certainly wsn't alone. His disposal was shocking but on a positive note, for the first time since he's come back he's managed to get through more game time and really get his hands on the ball a lot. (May not have been great for us that he did!) His disposal will improve, we know he has the ability. Just had a bad one. Frustrating, yes, but no biggie in the grand scheme of his and our development.

I don't think I'll eat any of my words, because all I said was learn to kick, which he should, because his turnovers cost us the game.

You're getting silly now. To save face, you may want to consider giving yourself abit of break from Bigfooty. Come back when you are ready to apologise.

Last night was nothing new. Disposal has always been his issue and most likely the main he dropped to the 4th round in his draft. He's improved a lot, just tonight, all his errors came at once. He has improved out of sight in this dept. Once he rubs this kind of thing out his game totally, he will be elite. My guess is its a psychological thing, as his disposal is physically quite good most of the time and he has shown that he can overcome it before. Hopefully next time it is permanent. For the record, he had 6 clangers last night; so did Stevens, Bock, Burton, Thommo had 5 and Edwards had 7. He wasn't alone out there.

No, poor little springchoke I won't, just because you can't handle the strain of reading things you don't like on Bigfooty, and this obviously effects you greatly, I won't be leaving just to make you feel better, you delicate flower.

Excellent post with the highlighted part one that many posters seem to have overlooked.

Well said. :thumbsu:

That's actually not true.

In the year before he was drafted he was being touted as a top 10 draft pick in the following year.

He had a growth spurt in his draft year and developed tendonitis of the knees, with his form suffering somewhat as a result.

This put all the clubs off which enabled Adelaide to claim him with their 5th pick as they believed (correctly) that they could manage this tendonitis.

People might remember when he was playing with Woodville-West Torrens in his first year here, whenever you saw him off-field he had bags of ice strapped to his knees.

Adelaide's belief and patience that Knights would grow out of this problem have been well rewarded, as we have a long-term quality mid-fielder on our hands for a very cheap pick..

That's not much of an apology - but if that's the best you can do then so be it, I accept your apology. Now apologise to the Knights family, who are reportedly devestated that their sons lack of football skill has been questioned by one of the greats minds in Internet forum history.

Knights did have some shocking turnovers, the worst being late in the 3rd which IMO changed the momentum of the game. However, he wasn't alone as we had plenty of players turning over the ball regularly. Our skills need some work over the next few weeks as was very costly last night. Thought Knights was playing well when he was on Power, but was moved off.

Power got 40 possies didn't he. If he was on him for more then a Q then holy hell he did have a shocker(Knights that is)

Granted VVM has taken it slightly over the top but he's right and historically speaking it is an aspect of his game that Knights has struggled with. To all those so valiantly defending him, what do you think Neil Craig would be saying to him at the moment? Somehow I doubt that he's giving his disposal a glowing endorsement and he will no doubt suggest that they need to work on it into the future.

He had a shocker in that regard tonight, not the first and probably not the last but he has been improving, no doubt at Craigy's behest and will continue to do so, even if a few of our fans give him a bit of stick from time to time.

FD88 never questioned it, only young VVM.
