The one saving grace for WC was Carlton managing 2-3 wins towards the end and also us losing a couple of close ones as well. If we end up beating the Lions and Carlton lose to the game against the Dees then it would've looked a whole lot worse than what it invariably ended up being.
our pick keeps climbing as we progress in finals, it doesnt stop after H&A

That Blues loss to the Tiges in Round 1 surely has to be up there in the top ten worst losses by any team ever in the history of the VFL/AFL.

With all the hype associated to it to go and lose like they did effectively kneecapped their entire season.

On talent there is no way in hell the Blues should have lost that match, you have to wonder what kind of mentality drove that loss.
I remember watching it thinking, wow, the Blues ball movement, skills and run and carry are deplorable - we might actually get a top 5 pick here.

Pity a bunch of bottom 8 teams put the queue in the rack very early.

WC have locked the Hawks Death Ride Thread.

How can that be legal?
Was always going to happen when there was more posts from hawks supporters than eagles supporters.

I’m surprised they let it go as long as they did. We could have had a lot more enjoyment had posters here not gone and posted there.

It’s like art at a museum, look but don’t touch.

Funny kind of regular season we had.

The top 8/9 teams were historically good (Hawks finishing 8th with 15 wins!) and the bottom 8 teams were really very ordinary indeed (especially the bottom 3).

The Blues were very average this year but by god the likes of Wet Toast, Essendscum, Norf, etc were deplorable for most of the season.

That's going to be an interesting watch for me, to see how those teams can climb back up. I feel like it's getting harder and harder every year to get up from the bottom of the ladder with player movement, etc.

I loved that game so much, Blues leading comfortably against a side tipped to lose every game due to a 2 win previous season then a clean out of talent. And in a blink of an eye it was clear the tigers were closer to a flag than Carlton even if they didn't claw back the lead to win.

Then with the game in the balance the fast break goal with the stare down into cartwheel into backflip celebration. Was absolute peak entertainment.

We have the exact same pick as we'd have had if we beat the lions

Best game of the year

Let the numbers provide a conclusion to this thread.

Points difference: (based on ladder position before the 2025 trade period pick trades)

  • Carlton's 2025 1st and 2nd picks, which were owned by the Hawks, ended at pick 9 (1355pts) and 31 (429) = 1784 pts
  • Hawthorn's 2025 1st and 2nd picks, which were owned by the Eagles, ended at pick 17 (879) and 42 (202) = 1081 pts.

Difference = 703 pts... Which is equal to pick 27.

The eagles could have had either set of picks in the Barrass trade. Alas for the Eagles fans, they chose poorly.

Conclusion: A Great Result for the Hawks and an enormous amount of fun for all Hawk fans on Bigfooty.

Don't forget the memories (reading the Eagle's deathride Hawthorn thread) we made along the way.
