With Warren Tredrea injured in Saturday's nights Ansett Cup game against Sydney who will take his place for the next 6 weeks?

A few options might be:

Brendon Lade - Probably the player that I would pick. He is now due to come back into the senior team and is a proven goal kicker for us. Although the injury is a downer for Port it may just be what Ladey needs to get him right for the start of the season as I am sure he is going to play a prominant role in our forward line. Barnaby French would be a chance but not likely.

Bowen Lockwood - He could also play this position but I think Port would rather rest him at this time of the season and have him right for the start of the season. No use pushing him early, its only the Ansett Cup and a long season awaits him.

Darren Mead - If any of our defenders is going to play forward this year it will be Meady. Port have been experimenting with him up forward but I don't think this key position is for him, more of a flanker or pocket player if up forward. I can only see him being a reliable forward than a dominant one. Darryl Wakelin and Stephen Paxman are more likely to settle at CHB and Full Back respectively.

Matthw Bishop would probably be are only other choice. Scott Bassett, Adam Morgan and Toby Thurstans are probably our only other real choices to play the position although they are basically defenders. Mark Harwood could also probably be put into the mix but is probably a touch short.

If we do go with one of the younger players it may just be a good chance to see what else we have in stock, I suppose it is better happening at this time of the season than the middle part, hopefully Tredders doesn't miss too many games at the start of the season.

I'm hoping given the chance, Mark Harwood will do the job. I haven't seen him play his best football in a while. I remember I used to watch him play for Triabunna (our old home town) but haven't seen those glimpses of brilliance in a long time, hopefully he's matured some more, and really motivated to give it a shot before it's too late.

Go Woody!!

Well CG, with Brendon Lade going down again, Mark may come under consideration again, although I see him as more of a flanker than a key position player. If Bowen Lockwood isn't ready yet, maybe it's time to blood Cain Ackland - after all, Tredders was very young when he first played in the AFL...

I agree with you GD. I believe Cain Ackland should get his chance to play now with Lade injured. He preformed well for the Maggies last season and for his size he is very mobile. I believe he could play a similar role to what Lade would of done this year.
