So the "agree with the webmaster or else" crowd from the other site are planning a protest march through the streets of Freo from the train station to the oval on the night of the members meeting next week. I had a look at the thread on there about it, and (obviously) they are all behind the idea... Well we all know what happens to your post if you are not.

Now I know everyone has the right to protest, but we, the members, have been given that opportunity by the club at the actual meeting. Parading through the streets bleating like a bunch of sheep is, in my opinion, embarrassing! They obviously want to attract media attention, but have they really thought this through? Our footy club, because of our on field development is finally getting some respect from the media over east. You may say "who cares", but I for one like the fact that we are at last being taken seriously over there. If this protest march makes the news countrywide, I reckon the media will have a field day! We'll be a bloody laughing stock!

We have an opportunity next Wednesday night to have a private meeting with the club to air any grievances that we have. Let's keep it private, and not stomp around town like a bunch of fools!

Can we all drag an anchor down high street too??

One of the ones from the BHP ore carriers should do just nicely as a symbol of our objections... Though only if it is painted red and green. And ridden by Ben allan against the hirstute wench that is Grieve!!

Of course, my wharfie approved back injury prevents me from participating in the actual dragging - rabble rousing speeches on the other hand, together with imposing beards, fearful sunglasss and awesome tatts(noting the a in tats is not an i) are all my forte...

I was site surfing looking for draft tidbits and with much trepidation decided to have a look over there and the first thing I thought was....gee guys build a bridge. Its done, its changed, we dont have a long history and the one we have has not been particularly awesome up till now. Dont get me wrong we have had some great moments and fantastic memories but it is time for a new regime of professionalism and a change for the better. The club is a lot more professional now and the new strip and look etc seems to reflect this. I love my club, I love the team and to me it doesnt matter what the jumper looks like but what is inside each jumper on the 22 that run out each week that counts.

I suggest people roll up along the proposed march route with wheelbarrows full of eggs and hope it's a hot day.

They are embarrassing.:thumbsd:

Yeh... not a huge fan of the DL site (for the same reason as most) ... but I kinda agree with them about this issue. We were overruled in a way (not many members voted) ... and that's not right. That being said, though, I won't be marching down the streets whinging about it. I've come to like the new brand (I don't love it) but will still support the club... and I've even bought a new scarf and hat! Yay, for me!

Personally, I think we should have left our brand image alone and perhaps changed the song, but I'm only one member, so I know I only get one vote (so-to-speak). [shrugs] On a sidenote, I'm not entirely happy about picking up 3 Vics in the draft either... but I'll suck it up and trust that they were much better than WA players on offer. :)

Im still pissed about how it was all handled
And still would of preffered the purple haze.

But im pretty sure the club are aware at how pissed off members are at how they handled it and hopefully will never change something in such a deceitful way again.

So i believe there is no need for a stupid march that will not change a thing.
As scossie said its only going to be a chance for these fools to get some attention.
But it will be embarrasing an bring plenty of negative attention to the club.

Also sounds more an more likely that the change came from from rosich wanting to change it plus it being a forced change due to some silly legal reason so they had to be deceitful as there was no way more than 50% would of ever agreed to ditching the anchor in a survey.

Huh?

What are they complaining about?

Anyone would be mistaken for thinking they were putting a paddlepop lion on our jersey or something..

Exactly.

They are just a bunch of winging sooks

Yeh. That and I'm sure Mr Harris had his say too. ;)

Seriously, that site is an absoloute joke and some of the stuff they say is cringeworthy. This is no exception.

God......

Mob of tossers ,why dont they get out of bed and march down to training one morning and support what really matters at our club ,the players and coaches who run their guts out in searing temps to give us something to yell and cheer about come game day
Who cares about a bunch of suits who might have hurt there feelings by not asking each one of them personally if it might be alright to change a jumper

As a supporter since the start I can see both sides to the argument. I don't understand the logic behind keeping the anchor and 4 colours when all it lead to was ridicule from everyone not associated with the club (believe me, going through 12 years of schooling as a dockers supporter was tough. Literally heard it all.)

I loved the days of Fremantle being that 'alternative' club capable of occasinally suprising the best clubs in the league and being frustratingly inconsistant, and when ever I see the quad coloured anchor strip that's what I think of. This new jumper is not regecting the past, but it is moving us on into a new era of professionalism and will win us respect With the rest of the comp (provided we are successful). parading through the streets in protest of something that will not be changed will only continue the ridicule. From what I've seen most opposition supporters who hated the old one like the new jumper.

I don't agree with the way the new strip was decided on and won't be buying one, but surely the logic behind the decision is understandable even to the most one eyed supporters. Tried to say this on dockerland, got deleted:rolleyes:

They have every right to gather and arrive in any manner they choose.

It is no reflection on you or anyone else.

To hold a strong opinion on how other members express themselves is not necessary.

Each to their own.

Anyone replying to my post in a negative manner had better not touch my junk when expressing it or I will sue.

lulz

One of the things people seem to hate most about DL is its apparent blind faith in Schwabboly and their flagrant refusal to accept other opinions.

Censorship! Why can't we express our alternate opinion? Grrrrrrrr.

But NOW... BF posters think DL people shouldn't be allowed to express their opinions!?!? Priceless.

Yair right, marching in the street is embarassing and won't ever achieve anything. Just remember that every time you cast your vote for your member director each year.

This appears to be the typical response from semi-supporters who have never fully commited to the club.

That may not be an apt description of you nurries, but then if you feel so little about the club's short history being trashed in the way that it was, then nurries isn't really an apt name for you either, because it appears that you need to grow a set.

Thank god opposition supporters like the new jumper, I wouldn't have been able to continue living with opposition supporters hating an aspect of our club. Are you actually reading what you type?

New era of professionlism that wil win us respect? What horseshit! Consistently winning games away as well as at home, appearing in finals regularly and winning a premiership is what will gain respect. Sticking to your ideals while others are telling you that everything you stand for is shit would gain respect.

Nicely skirting around the issue Moo, can't show too much support for the site now that we're a mod can we? You used to be on the site all the time and you know that this sudden mass disdain is misplaced. In fact, many of the respected posters on this board are, or were, regular DL posters. Sure, you get a biased viewpoint, but the support for the club is unwavering and they don't bend over and take it because it seems the latest kind of cool thing to do to gain acceptance.

FFS!!

The horse is dead.

And I thought it was just his premiership ambitions that looked shot:)

Only has himself to blame though, fancy expecting this bloke to shoot straight:rolleyes:

Hope not, I'm really starting to love everything about the new look the more I see of it.

Everything about the club looks slicker and more professional now. From the jumper, to the merchandise, to the simplified logo... to the little things like the website and the design of the pamphlets in the mail... even the little 3 V's graphic next to our players in the AFL draft tracker.

Mistakes were made in our original branding and now they've been rectified. I've always been proud to be a Freo supporter, but for the first time ever I'm also proud of the look of our 'brand'.

Did chuckle.:D

Nice to see a Shane Richmond sycophant gracing BF.:thumbsu:

Will you need plastic surgery for the stretched lipline?

Worst thing to come out of the way this was handled, in my opinion, is the widening divide within the Freo-supporter base.

If they want to march, let them. Whether you agree with them or not, we all support the same team. Give everyone the respect to express themselves.

Personally, I can't wait for the new season. When, hopefully, all we can talk about will be the games & the players.

Ironic you should say that, because I'd say (from personal experience as you've pointed out) that the entire essence of Dockerland is about gaining acceptance into their clique by saying whatever they think is cool.

It's actually those who don't want to 'bend over and take it' that end up gradually migrating over to bigfooty permanently.

Bigfooty has its flaws for sure, but people mindlessly agreeing with each other to gain acceptance certainly isn't one of them. There's only one Freo website that promotes that.

That wasn't my experience at all. I made plenty of posts contrary to popularly held views, including Shane's. You just need to learn how to negotiate the unwritten rules of the site and not crash about like a wild boar like you can here.

I migrated to BF because the server over there was diabolically slow.

This wild boar that you mention.

Its name is opinion.

It is a good pig. Even better than Babe.
