Russian are you able to tell me what my current TPP is after my delistings?
If Freo keep Longmuir, and Collard & McConnell don't get picked up, by my rough calculations it's $7,600,000 including draft picks and assuming 2007 salaries for all your uncontracted players

If Longmuir goes its $7,515,000

As far as i know J-Lo has retired and will now be a rucks coach at the Dockers in 2008. So he will be retired instead of being delsited.

I've fully finished my delistings. I just saw you're cut off date and didn't realise. Can I still delist all players i've put down on the first page?

Sorry I didn't see that you put down a cut off date.

Geelong delist:

Daniel Hayes - $75,000 (1)
Stephen Owen - $100,000 (UC)
Ross Young - $75,000 (1)
Simon Phillips - $75,000 (1)

Not sure what reasoning there is. I guess you could argue with Hayes, a lack of motivation (in reality, of course) saw him delisted. Owen delisted due to injury. The other two were delisted by their respective clubs.

More to come.

So if these players don't get picked up come the end of all the drafts, I won't have to pay a cent on their contracts? Works for me.

Where did you get that from? You'll pay 75% on all of them if they don't get picked up, 100% if they do.

I'm lost.

If they get delisted by their respective clubs and don't get picked up (ie they're not a listed AFL player anymore), I technically can't delist them because they still have a year on their contracts to run? The only 'acceptable' condition is if they retire and are then delisted? You're proposing letting them sit on my lists even though they're not even listed players?

Thats the peril of long contracts, and poor list management I guess. I traded for Daniel Ward last year, signed on 2 years at $280,000. The guy was a fantasy stud, I was stoked. Now he's been delisted and Ive got all that dosha going to waste. Unreal! But, I have paid him a 'contract' so I must honour it. I dont agree with this if a player retires though. If its a players choice to retire, on most occasions they would forfeit the remainder of their pay... although notable cases that didnt are Hamill and Voss

Understandable in the Ward case, but mine is slightly different. These are mostly kids signed up to their first contracts - I have no say in the contract length, it's a default 2 year deal.

I can understand being forced to pay out a contract of a player that I choose to delist, I've got no problem with that, but my hand is forced in these cases - these players are already delisted and not on AFL lists. I don't see why I should be forced to pay them out.

Delisted by Gold Coast Jets:
Sam Lonergan - $100,000 (UC)
24. Jarrad Oakley-Nicholls - $100,000 (UC)
23. Jay Neagle - $100,000 (UC)
14. Garrick Ibbotson - $100,000 (UC)
9. Jake Edwards - $100,000 (UC)
16. Brett Montgomery - $220,000 (pay 110,000)

I guess the argument is AFL clubs do in fact pay them out.

And also that it goes back to poor, albeit unlucky and no way you could see it happening, drafting.

They actually don't since they were all rookies on 1 year deals

but that bit's right - it's the risk you take whenever you pick up someone on a longer contract than they have in reality - I know there were no options other than rookies for Geelong (and West Coast and Essendon) when they took those players but they also decided not to have a pick between 13 and 81.

These two qualifications have been raised:

1. Those who walk away due to lack of motivation or similar will have their contract terminated immediately with no further payment.

2. Those who are delisted by or pushed into retirement by their AFL clubs must be paid 100% of their contracted salary in the first year of a contract and 75% in subsequent years

What of those players who are delisted because of their lack of motivation/disciplinary reasons etc? It just seems as though I have two players who fall into that category (Hayes and Phillips)
