There has been a lot of discussion about who should be delisted, however I am confused as many of the names that get thrown up are often contested as being contracted. (Teague) Is anybody able to clarify who exactly is out of contract and who can be delisted? Cheers:thumbsu:

IMO we should delist these players:

Bannister
Chambers
Carrazzo
Davies
Livingston
Longmuir
McGrath
Prendergast
Sporn
Wiggins

Just not up to AFL standard

Carrazzo, McGrath and Wiggins will not be delisted this year. Carrazzo will still be around for a while. McGrath is unspectacular, but does his job reasonably, and works his ass off. Every club needs a player like him. Ideally he would be a depth player, but I am happy for him to be in the side until others overtake him. Wiggins has saved himself for at least another year based on his performances prior to injury in 2006.

The rest are spot on, but Bannister may survive another year, I stilll think he has something to offer. Livo may also be lucky and find himself on the list for another year if Thornton leaves. But I doubt it.

I think Pagan needs to sit down with Livo and tell him he has one more year, especially if T-Bird leaves. He needs to tell him that he will not be dropped if he has a bad week or two, and just let him build up his confidence in 2007.

If he can't get it together after that, then delist him next year, and by then Hartlett and Bower should both be ready to occupy spots in Carltons back six.

We won't delist all those, I'd think that Wiggins and Carrazzo are definetly safe, whilst one or two of Sporn/Mcgrath/Bannister will be kept, depending on how many players we draft.

Chambers, Davies, Longmuir and Prendergast should be certain delistees. French has retired and if Thornton leaves that opens up another spot too.

Livingston, Bannister, Sporn and Bryan (is he uncontracted?) are borderline, wouldn't think all of them would survive, especially if we pick up extra draft picks through trades this week.

Carrazzo, McGrath and Wiggins should be safe, all are maligned players but i think are underrated and worth sticking with, at least until more talented kids come through and overtake them in the next 2-3 years.

I'm not sure on Raso too, is a long term project, but i'm presuming we'd persist for now?

If we delisted every player that hasn't played decent we would be getting rid of 20 players:mad: I don't think there will be more than 8 or 9 delisted. With that in mind, here is my list.

Seniors
French (Retire)
Thornton (Traded or Delist)
Davies - Has shown little promise.
Livingston - Has been given plenty of time
Sporn - Not up to AFL level
Prendagast - See above
Longmuir - Mistake
Chambers - See above
Bryan - Pagan just doesn't like him

Rookies
Jackson - Promotion
Batson - Delist
Smith - Delist
Others will be held for another year.

I disagree. I think Livo has had his chances and we should cut our losses now, regardless of what happens with T-Bird. He is not up to AFL standard, end of story. Out with the old and in with the new I say.

Delist
1. Teague - might have another year on his contract, but he's just occupying a valuable spot on our list
2. Livo - we've tried long enough now
3. Sporn
4. Deluca - even struggles at VFL level
5. Chambers
6. Davies - disappointing, does have talent

Keep (just)
1. Bryan - has ability, but just not the committment. Give him another go
2. Longmuir - does have more ability than the others, but lacking commitment for some reason.
3. Bannister - lineball
4. McGrath - has played useful tagging roles on occasions

Rookies
1. Jackson - promote
2. Flint - keep on rookie list, but consider promoting latter in the season
3. Aisake - keep as rookie. Shows alot of potential
4. Smith - delist
5. Batson - delist

We need to free up about 7-8 spots from the draft/PSD and 2 rookie spots. After the trade week, we'll probably have about 5 top-30 draft picks. :)

What does everyone have against McGrath? McGrath is a great tagger, and along with Carazzo are important members of our side, due to their great tagging abilities.

Yes. Far rather develop a draftee or rookie with potential next year. An excellent investment IMO, and would be a positive statement by the Club. :)

Fair enough, but I don't think we can afford to do it given the financial burden the club currently finds itself in.

Plus, we already have plenty we are going to delist this year, and we need to keep some to delist next year :D

I know this might be a bit far fetched ...

If we were to delist Deluca (and possibly Bryan) ... mightnt we have to promote Batson?

I agree. McGrath should be retained.

We definitely won't be delisting Deluca and I can't see us letting go of Bryan either. From what I've read on Batson, I can't see him being promoted but maybe the club will re-rookie him with a late pick.

Err, parrot, where is Ian Prendergast????

 How on earth can you contemplate the delisting of Jesse Smith!? On 45[??] minutes of senior football; played in short bursts; in a team that was smashed; without a winning ruckman; with no pack breakers!!! He was a ball magnet in the VFL and was dealt a cruel blow by not participating in the finals series. He is strong and fearless and with the possibility of a line breaker [Bryce Gibbs] joining the team he would be a fantasic resource in creating mayhem around the stoppages and clearing the Gibbs path. You are being very harsh.

We will use 1, 17, 19, 35 and whatever we get for Thornton/Russell in trade week, plus a PSD pick. We will elevate 1-3 rookies.

That is 6-8 delistings considering the above means Thornton/Russell won't be there. If we get a player for them instead of a pick, then it becomes 8-10 delistings.

If we look at those that people reckon should stay, then we are in trouble.

1. Livingston
2. Prendergast
3. Sporn
4. Davies
5. Longmuir
6. Chambers

Teague, Deluca, McLaren, Saddington all contracted.

Other possibles: Bryan, McGrath, Wiggins, Bannister

If we trade for players, then one or more of the above four are gone or one of the contracted guys will be paid out.

hopefully the Blues will put up t-birds price far too high for anyother clubs :D
or offer him alot more over 3-4 years :D

Carlton apparently offered him the same money as the Hawks offerend but he said that he doesn't want to play for Carlton anymore.
