As far as I know there has been only two retirements so far - cook and parker. The WCE Worst said the dockers had 4 players not contracted at present for 2008 - hadrill, browne, walker and webster.

The paper said the dockers would need to delist one more to or two more if they wanted to promote fossie before oct 31.

Is this assuming the above for players are gorn?? add cook and parker makes 6 so why would they need to delist another two players = 8 promote fossie = 7 have 4 draft picks makes a short fall of 3 players??

I'm so confussed!!

Your first mistake was buying the West. Your second was reading it. Your third was assuming they are accurate.

Now I havent read the article in question, but it is pretty clear we have to delist a minimum of 2 of those blokes to participate in the national draft (Parker a vet outside the list so he doesnt count). We can have Fossie as a nominated rookie outside the list, so that is not a problem.

If we want to use a PSD pick another of those 4 would have to go, leaving 1 remaining.

The fantastic journalists at the west have figured out that Parker and Cook have retired so we need to delist one more for our three national draft selections. Two plus one must be three.

Apparently someone told the person who wrote the article that Parker was a veteran, and he replied "Really, what war was he in?"

But what about coppout, rumble tumble, shchmitty?? can we delist those, not that i'm advocating the delisting of schmitty as it just won't happen as havs loves him as he has alot of potential, but what is the deal with these rookies. can we de list them instead of say a browne or webster as i'd MUCH MUCH MUCH rather have these guys in the team than coppout or tumbles

Delisting those guys mentioned would only free up spots on the rookie list, not the main list.

If they are cut, they can be replaced with more rookies, but not guys from the National Draft or PSD.

Walker's gone. Either Webster, Haddrill or Browne will be delisted. I'm picking Webster though it's a shame.

What about if we delist let's say wenster, can we pick him up again in the draft or PSD? would any other team take him before we had a chance or would that be a possibility

Webster, Browne, Haddrill, Walker. If any one of those players sees much game time, then they have had a miraculous improvement in their fortunes, or we are playing extremely poorly with an injury decimated list. Wait a minute. Probably not due to injuries, because promoted rookies would likely be prefered.

All 4 are good ordinary players at best, and none will make much of a difference to us. Pick the one that covers the biggest weakness we have. Haddrill.

This is a no brainer.

Webster is 10 times the player Browne will ever be. Even after 2 knee jobs, Webster is a better long term option than Browne.

Why is it that people rate Browne? He is a useless prick in my opinion.

Webster on the other hand should be getting a run in the first team every week.
Think it is his pace they like. But your right he is pretty much useless.

At the moment:

Retired: Parker (free's up rookie spot), Cook (free's up spot on main list)

Out of ontract: Haddrill, Walker, Webster, Browne

We need to delist at least 2 to meet minimum drafting retirements. We will likely delist 3 or possibly all 4 to find space for Foster/Smith (rookies atm) on the main list and possibly room for Keplar Bradley.

We can opt not to elevate Foster or Smith and use Justin Longmuirs long term injury to elevate one. The other can be elevated as our nominated rookie because we only have 1 veteran.

Now the club will have to decide exactly what to do.

Totally agree with you Gav.

We have an abundance of midfielders who are on the fringe of playing next season and the way I see it, Walker, Webster and Browne have had plenty of time on the list to consolidate their spots. Still have Dunn, Foster, Smith, Obrien, Ibbotson, McManus, Duffield and M Carr who, in my opinion will be fighting it out for a spot in the midfield each week. Add to that a midfielder at pick 7 and we have plenty on the list who will fight or a spot next year. Just can't see any of Walker, Webster or Browne playing next year. Got to say that I feel sorry for Webster too. I have always liked this guy as a player.

I also think we need to make room for another ruckman on the list through the draft.

Hadrill should be kept as insurance as this is were we are lacking most.Having said that, he may be pushed if either Murphy or Campbell are groomed as backmen.

I see the delisting as:
Cook (retired)
Parker (retired)
Walker;
Webster;
Browne;
Mourish (possibly to be rookie listed)
Copping;
Rumble;

I wish they would hurry up and announce it. It's not like the players wouldn't already know if they're time is up. Pre-season training starts in 10 days.

I am thinking Browne due to his injuries, either way I will be upset.

All three have suffered bundles of injuries, though Webster has had a good couple of years. Problem is that despite the injury-free period, he hasn't performed at the WAFL level let alone the AFL. I think losing his Dad/mentor has stagnated his development.

Browne on the other hand is a few years younger than Webster and amidst the injuries, he has shown that he has talent to burn if given a trouble free period.

Haddrill I think will stay, solely because of his performance in round 22. I know it's not much, but it is something and enough in my opinion.

We are going to take Kepler Bradley.

Should this not happen that is the only way Webster's position is safe.

Browne will be retained.

He is a Harves favourite.

All subjective, I personally think Webster did play well last year and this year for his minimal roles. I thought he contributed this year up until one bad game which saw the end of his season.

Browne had a killer pre-season and yes, looked a better player than Webster. I think both players have something to offer in whatever capacity, unfortunately both may be going!

We can but won't (happened with Daniel Haines in 2004). Delisting then re-drafting would mean we'd only be picking up 2 new players in the draft which isn't enough investment in youth.

From what i have heard Mourish will stay, he only played one WAFL game before being drafted and the club see him as a longer term project. . . hes only 18

I think Collard may be in trouble after the second half of the season where he wasn't very dedicated.

Copping has had his chance and should go.

I think webster and browne should stay. walker, haddril have had their chances.

i dont think rumble and smith are in danger because rookies get 2 yr contracts so they have another yr.

Jlo should retire and be given a ruck coaching position to allow for foster to be "upgraded" or failing that chuck him on the LTI list and elevate foster.

so at the end i think walker, haddril and copping are gone and maybe one of webster and browne. Foster is elevated and jlo is either retired or on the LIT (im sorry shibizzle but i think hes game time is over)
