I know that it is very early to call but I think it would be interesting to see who they think are the likely players to be delisted at this years end.

It will good to compare who people think will get delisted and who will really be delisted.

Personally I think players such as Saddington, Blackwell, Wiggins, Jacobs, Hartlett, Bannister and possibly Russell as well are all in contention unless they have a good season this year

Also Chris Judd must have a good season or hes a certainty to be delisted.

Agree with those mentioned.

Blackwell the biggest certainty of lot IMO. I doubt he will play seniors in 08, Na I really dont like Hartletts chances of staying on the list.

Throw Ackland and Cloke into the mix.

they may ditch Cain to clear room in the cap if he is borderline. Jacobs would be a much cheaper option as a back up ruckman, which may appeal if the Hammer, Aisake and Kreuz show good development.
This may be needed to help front load Juddy, while the likes of BG and possibly others will be looking for pay rises.

Russell likely to get another year unless he is horrid or a beneficial trade is on the table.

cloke was really good for you guys until he got his shoulder injurie!

Possible delistees (in alphabetical order):

Cain Ackland
Jordan Bannister
Clinton Benjamin
Luke Blackwell
Cameron Cloke
Jake Edwards
Adam Hartlett
Darren Pfeiffer
Jordan Russell
Jason Saddington
Simon Wiggins

Some are more likely than others but these are the only ones who have a chance of potentially being delisted. Everyone else is safe barring a horrific form slump or serious injuries.

I didn't count rookies because all rookies are a good chance of getting delisted (although Jamison would be very very unlikely candidate for delistment).

Spot on. This fella is going to be a loose cannon on our forward line this year. Mark my words.

SWANNY36, can you detail his shoulder history whilst he was at the Pies? Was 07 the first operation he'd had on it?

PS: Appreciate you honouring our CEO and the great Mark Maclure with your username! :D

Benji is safe

they are teaching him a new kicking style with some success

There are others with less upside that have been there longer

He is probably the least likely on that list but if he spends the entire year toiling in the VFL reserves then he probably becomes the most likely to be delisted so its a possiblity.

Mark Maclure former no 36 and 3 time Premiership player had the nick: Sellers.
I reckon you mean David Swan McKay, former no 43 who played in 4 premierships, is an ABC commentator, served on the board after Jack was ousted.

Actually was thinking more along the lines of Greg Swan AND Sellers (SWANNY36). Probably didn't punctuate it so good. Yes, saw the Swan many times live at PP. What a fabulous player. Just for the record, can anyone tell me what the history of Sellers is? I've racked my brains and feel it must have something profane attached as it has never been mentioned in the media as far as I can tell.

And not for long apparently. Said he saw what a basket case the place was and took off. Two ways of looking at that sort of reaction.

He was. It's those shoulders that tell us he won't have a long career. Isn't that his third operation? The club thinks the same, and will only give him one-year contracts. If Aisake and Hampson step up this year, one of Ackland or Cloke will be gone. I'd tip Ackland myself.

Blackwell. The competition for midfield spots is absolutely huge now, and he really needs to demonstrate something outstanding this year to hold his spot. He does have a natural ability to find the ball, but not much else at this stage. Bentick. Seems to have lost a lot of weight, and realises he needs to progress in order to keep his spot. Strong, tough, competitive, but his attitude is too defensive IMO. He doesn't have that arrogant desire to take his opponents on like Carrazzo and Walker have. Saddington. His flaw is lack of speed of the mark. Fatal for a KP defender. And we now have plenty of tall, young defenders with speed. Ackland. Gone obviously. Will be interesting to see just how many games he ends up playing. Only a handful I suspect. Bannister. He's always just hanging in there. have to admire this guys efforts in 2007, as he played his role admirably on occasions. He took official life-long ownership of Cornes in 2007, and will no doubt add others to his collection. Perhaps we and the opposition underrate this guy a little. Big fast, off-the-scale endurance, and extremely aggressive, with tidy disposal. Jacobs. He has a chance of staying on the list, as a backup ruck when we delist Ackland. Wasn't so impressed wit his efforts in the VFL last year. Looked like a lumbering ruck type, but he seems to have done a lot of work to improve his mobility. Like his attitude. Must be tough when high talents like Kruezer, Hampson and Aisake are coming through. That's all. Hartlett should be safe if he sorts his injury issues out. The guy is a massive talent, and will show this if he can stay out on the park. No way on Earth would Benjamin be considered. He is a freak athlete, and has superstar potential, but needs careful development work. :)

TRADE BAIT:
Luke Blackwell
Adam Hartlett
Jordan Russell
Bret Thornton

I think we could get a decent player from adelaide or port for hartlett and russell and maybe a 3rd round pick for blackwell

If blackwell is up for delisting or trade its because he hasnt broken in to the team, and if thats the case, he ain't worth a cracker at the end of the year.

Likewise for Hartlett and Russell, if they are on the periphery we wont get anything of value. The only way we'll get anything is if they have good years.

Doesnt anyone think it a bit morbid to be talking about delistings while the new year, filled with gun new players, developed young guns and a whole new world of hope is upon it?

I think we've been losers too long.

It doesnt take any brains at all to know who is on limited time.

I'm sorry, but I just have to laugh at that statement.

Chris has just moved to a new club, and no matter what his past acheivements are, everyone takes time to settle in. More to the point, if we were to delist him, we would have to be the stupidest, ssssupidest team in the competition.

Although, I do beleive someone has a 5 year contract:rolleyes:.

THIS IS A PLEA TO THE ENTIRE REGISTERED BF BOARD NOT TO COME DOWN ON EBIAC TOO HARD JUST BECAUSE HE MISSED A BIT OF SARCASM.

(BEST I COULD DO FOR YOU MATE).

Haha, my bad. Usually I depend on smilies to display emotions.

Otherwise, i'd have to use my brain to figure these things out:eek:.

It's a bit much seeing Thornton as trade bait. Our backline doesn't exactly have depth, so I think we'd more be looking at securing more players alike Thornton.
