Hi everyone, just a request here for some honest opinions - if you had to plonk a grand on it right now, where would you say Melbourne will finish in 2008?

Just keen to hear the general consensus

I went 13th but IMO they could finish anywhere between 11th and 16th.

People seem to forget that the Demons have a tendency to see-saw up and down the ladder. I voted 9th, but could finish anywhere up to 6th IMO.

was not that long ago they were kicking some butt. Had a horrendous run of injuries but looked ok in patches. They could surprise, or dissapoint.

I think I will just hold onto my $1k, put it toward a BIG television, some beers, and watch it all unfold!

I agree about their depth, but if they can keep the majority (17+) of their best 22 on the paddock for most of the season, personally i think their best is as good as most of the teams going round. On their day, best 22 v best 22 they would beat half, if not more, of the other teams in the competition. Their inconsistancy lets them down alot of the times, but if they get their confidence up definate chance of finishing top 8, if not top 6. But as i said, consistancy is a big issue

I know it's personal opinion, but remember, we were generally tipped to be one of the strongest Victorian teams but we were totally decimated by injury last year.
The two years before that we were very solid, our best was as good as most teams' but, as others have said, our consistency let us down.
But we still have a lot of the same players as when we were playing great footy, plus some exciting young kids, so I believe we could finish anywhere from 6-14.
Injuries will be the key (as with most teams) but it's fair to say we're a fair way off geelong and even the Hawks, Pies and Eagles

One thing i wouldn't associate with Melbourne at the moment is a lack of grunt......
