Since Brocks departure theres been huge speculation in relation to Davey being traded to Collingwood or Essendon. I really hope this was a rumour and Melbourne offer him a 3 year deal and a deal is done asap. Can some one confirm when this happens please.

Theres been rumours about Jurrah returning home, and trading Bartram and Dunn. Can someone please clear up this speculation with a good source.

I think we should delist
Hughes
Healy
Zomer

And look to trade
Dunn
Bartram
Miller
Bell

??
Newton
Buckley
Johnson

My question: who do Melbourne delist or trade and what are there values?

We need to keep
Miller (we need a mature big body in the forward line)
Buckley (was injured all year, has a big upside to him)
Dunn ( was good this year and gets to go around again)

Delist:

Zomer
Bail - downgrade him to a rookie
Healy

Trade:

Newton - if a Pick 70+ deal cant be made - bite the bullet and pay out his contract (delist)

Bell - see Newton - would rather a pick 50 or something tho.

Bartram - if a good deal can be done. (Pick 36) or something - make the deal othwise keep.

Keep:

Miller
Buckley
Johnson
Dunn

i personally think melb would be silly not to trade davey if he wants to go to ess. pick 10 plus a player. that would give melb how many 1st round draft picks? melb arent challenging for a flag anytime soon. they should stock up while they can before GC gets in.

HA.

Nice try.

Anyone with any sense knows that you need a mix of youth and experience. Given how quickly teams can turn arounnd, we could play finals in 2 years time. We were already hurt by the loss of McLean. We can't afford to lose Davey.

It's take pick 10 plus a VERY good player because Davey's a star.

Lovett is an experienced player.

We already have picks 1,2,11,18,34 and psd, so any trades involving a 3rd round pick or higher, is worthless.

Miller - Trade or delist
Bell - Trade or pay out contract.
Newton - Trade or keep
Bartram - Trade or keep
Dunn - Keep
Johnson - Keep
Buckley - Keep if Bartram is traded, if not delist.

Plus which player? Be specific. I would be asking for your first round pick plus Gumbleton. Not likely to happen.

Rookie list players aside, I think we are going to do some serious cutting from the current list now that we have pick 11.

1, 2, 11, 18, 34 + PSD is six new players and thats presuming we dont even look past the third round - or upgrade any rookies!

I thought we might keep Miller on for another year so that he can take some of the physical load for our youngsters and hope his trade value rises with a better year next year (GC17?). I also think Buckley and Dunn are worth persisting with for another 24 months but wih Bell and Bail under contract next year that leaves us with; Bartram, Johnson, Newton and McNamara (although Im unsure on McNamara's contract status).

anyone selling their soul to leave the mighty Dees, will regret it for eternity beleive me.

Hughes will stay on, some kind of special consideration.

Dunn has too much upside to be traded. I'd keep him.

Buckley is in the same boat. Would be a very risky delisting.

Newton, Miller, Pj, Bartram to be delisted and Bell traded.

What do you think Bell is worth? what sort of pick should the dees be seeking

Bell won't get us anything, no one wants a player who could only get three games this year with the bottom-ranked team. And with our four first rounders trading for anything lower than #34 would be kind of pointless.

The best we could do if we were going to trade, would be #34 plus a player or two for a 2nd rounder.

People not every trade needs to net us something significant, trading Bell away for pick #90 or something like that helps us greatly as it frees up a senior list spot.

If we can net something useful like an improvement on pick #34 then great otherwise it's no big deal if it's pick #90.

Exactly.. which is something we should be looking at for Newton also..

I think we'll want a space available for our 4th round pick and PSD pick just in case someone decent falls through - we might not end up using them but will want them available just in case.

So hopefully someone is prepared to give Bell and Newton a shot for a cheap trade so we can make enough picks avilable.

But we've still got to get the other team to agree to give us pick #90, & I doubt many are going to be interested in trading a pick they they're not going to use for a player they're not going to use. The 5-minutes of paperwork to make the trade could be used for something more useful, like drinking beer.

Having lost three players in Robertson, Wheatley and Whelan, plus McLean's inevitable trade, you would think we need to get rid of a further 2-4 senior players.

Bartram and Miller are out of contract, so they would have to be on thin ice. Cheney, McNamara are Spencer also out of contract, but Valenti is a very handy squad player while Spencer is a major work in progress. McNamara is a smokey, he got a couple of games late but that may have been because Bailey wanted to see if he as worth keeping. Given our large number of tall defenders, he might be seen as surplus, although I thought he did a few good things. I am unsure about Bell's contractual status, but if he is out of contract then I feel he will be delisted. Johnson will be safe, unless we trade for another ruckman (doubtful though). Newton still has a year to run on his contract, but that doesn't necessarily make him 100% safe. Buckley could be trade bait, but I would like to give him another shot.

So to summarise...

Cheney - out of contract, very likely to stay
Miller - out of contract, likely to stay
Spencer - out of contract, likely to stay
McNamara - out of contract, 50/50 chance
Bartram - out of contract, 50/50 chance
Newton - contracted, likely to stay
Johnson - unsure of contract, likely to stay
Bell - unsure of contract, 50/50 chance
Buckley - unsure of contratc, 50/50 chance
