I've been thinking about the injuries we've had and the form of our lads and tried to come up with a best 22 when fully fit... What's great is that is is really hard to do! All the young lads this year have shown so much promise heading forward and I think we have to remember that we're currently 5th on the table sitting above teams with a f*ckload more experience than us.
Joseph is our new no.1 tagger and is doing well every week, Robbo has great energy and wouldn't care if he left the ground in pieces, Browne is such a hard nuggety lad who shows that hardness and good skills can take u a long way, Austin is showing all the right signs of being that third tall down back that we've so badly needed, Garlett and Yarran have both shown promise and it'll be great when they are pushing to out perform each other for the spot in the 22 providing spark and pressure, and then there's Hammer and Army who hav have also given glimpses of brilliance in their short times in the light.

With Waite, Warnock, Walker, Carrazzo, Grigg and Scotland all missing from last fridays win, it's gonna be a real challenge making the cuts for those six, who i believe are all in our best 22. We may have a McGuire and Hudgton case on our hands as the season rolls on and into next year, where the kids keep the regulars out. And I wouldn't be complaining.

I had a shot at pickin a 22 and realised we have over 30 players who will all be putting their hand up come round one 2010.

B: Thornton, Jamison, Carrazzo
HB: Scotland, Bower, Austin
C: Gibbs, Stevens, Simpson
HF: Walker, Kreuzer, Waite
F: Betts, Fevola, Fisher
R: Warnock, Judd, Murphy

INT: Joseph, Houlihan, Grigg, Browne

Robinson, Garlett, Yarran, Hampson, Armfield, Russel, Wiggins, O'hailpin, Ellard

All selections would clearly be based on form, which will help build a hunger in our team, and wth the further development of these kids it looks like a pretty exciting next couple of years :):thumbsu:

Thoughts?

Yeah its exciting.

Especially after what we've been through in those dark dark years.
I remember I used to make my own team before every season and look nervously down at the team on the A4 paper, thinking how the hell are we ever going to be just challenging for the 8 again? I just couldn't see a light and the end of tunnel. We had NO TALL DEFENDERS, I mean we didn't even have 1 promising defender!? Livingston was the great hope:o Forwards were playing down back, (Hoops, Whitnal, Digby) we were just a shamble. Our midfield was ok but seriously lacking depth,if we got 1 injury to stevens or Kouta, thats it we were stuffed. Our forward line was just fevola, we're finally starting to see more options now (with a full list). Not to mention all the recyled players which should have been promising young kids in the team. The constant thought of knowing we could have had Wells, Goddard and McClean in our team.:(

So yeah finally!! Its exciting times ahead, the last few years have been embarrassing and demoralising for our supporters and the club, especially going to the games with mates and your team losses by 100 points more:o So yeah get excited, go to the games and sit back and relax and enjoy a team that will take us to next holy grail.:thumbsu:

Sure, Johnson had a bad few kicks, but i think he should be in the mix, you haven't even mentioned him.

Also noticed Cloke is off the list, are you trying to tell us something? ehhe

Thats the problem with depth.
We are building alot of it!

If only Fev was a couple of years younger, we would be a certainty to snatch a flag!

If we had all players ready to go round 1 2010 taking into account suspected player improvement my team would look like this.

Carrazzo Jamison T-Bird

Waite Bower Scotland

Waite Stevens Gibbs

Robinson Kruezer Walker

Betts Fev Houlihan

Hampson Judd Murphy

Warnock Austin Simpson Grigg

Players most likely to come out

Robinson, Simpson, Carrazzo, Warnock, Hampson

to be replaced with

AJ, Browne, Armfeild, Jacobs, Gartlett and Yarran

Pretty well thought out thread, well done. Fact is we don't need a full forward to win the flag. If you go back through our history we have always won flags when we have had CHF's. When was the last time we won a flag with a out and out FF? I would say it would have been a very long time ago. The great Carlton teams of old always had a gun CHF, in 95 we had the Earl but he was there a a decoy, hard working CHF, with Sticks the true CHF target.
