Interesting article in regards to the loss to Geelong last Sunday. Former AFL umpire Derek Humphrey-Smith had some opinions on the umpiring in the last quarter. I did rate Derek - good umpire and match manager and good decision maker and I dont just say that due to his comments in the article (see link below).

Hope you're all having a good week so far.

Cheers.

So we let a huge lead slip and then we stress about a touchy fifty?

We need to change our structure and fix our problems, not the umpires.

Not the old ,I will cheat on gameday then say I'm sorry after the game is over trick?
Umpires have been saying "sorry" to Richmond an awful lot over the years.

We deserved to be spanked the way we played but still - would have been interesting to see this one discussed on Mondays "Whistle Blowers" thingo on the AFL website - but of course decisions that are likely to clearly have effected a game outcome are efficiently : -

Indeed the loss was a problem with coaches and players, but that one incident needed to be discussed, as it was blatantly obvious that it was a mistake. Bring it to the attention of the umpires with the hope that a repeated mistake in the same manner does not decide a premiership.

Touchy 50? It was one of the clearest 50s I have ever seen. There was 2 people in the protected area.
And one of them (Danger) was moving closer to Cotchin.

I didnt see that last quarter (thank f&) butCotch played on too quickly. If he didnt, the ump prob would have paid it.

But then we'd have won and been a chance to overtake the Pies - which i dont want.

I hope it does.

While we're not there. But seriously let's stop blamming the umps for our own problems like why we lost by a few while being up by over 30?

Touchy is the word.

Yeah. Nah.

Umpires make mistakes. Players make mistakes. Coaches make mistakes.

I counted three Taylor Hunt turnovers that directly led to Geelong goals. I stopped counting the number of times that a lack of a contest out of the Tyronnasaurus led to the ball zinging down the other end for a shot on goal. Moore was contesting the ruck in the last quarter when Hamsandwich was having a breather, and we were getting spanked in clearances.

The umpiring mistakes were not the most significant in deciding the game.

Which part of that is touchy? 2 players within the 10m protected zone? Neither trying to move out of it? One 2m away and moving closer?
LMAO,look at the umpire, perfect view of both of them in the penalised area and refuses to put the whistle in his mouth, what a joke.

What about Scott Selwood holding Jack Riewoldt dead in front of goal while the ball was on the ground?

Go to the replay, final quarter, 7:30 left in the match. Watch it yourself. Jack had both hands on the footy for about a millisecond before being dragged to the ground and held back.

Was holding imo.
