Want to congratulate Derickx on his recent performances, not only has he held our ruck devision together since Pyke has been injured but he has actually been a really valuable presence all around the ground with his pressure, marking and ability to find the goals.

ALL ABORD THE D-TRAIN!!! (One of my friends sent the nickname to me and I thought it seemed rather apt as he is really chugging along at the moment)

Been really impressed with him too... Only criticism is he gets both hands to the ball a lot and is in the perfect position to take marks, doesn't get pushed, doesn't get his arms chopped but the ball just slips through somehow... If he can fix that up and start clunking them look out!

Delisted by Richmond.

Potentially could win a flag.

Can't think of this ever happening before.
Looking forward to picking up Matthew Arnot in 2015, Liam McBean in 2016 and we'll reclaim Nippa Gordon in 2017 when we'll celebrate our 4-peat.

not a bad train, sometimes it looks like it may come off the rails or tip its passengers over, but it has a poweful engine and never gives up and somehow every makes it alive to the next stop

Bonz his nickname is D-Rex. Your friend is an idiot.

I've been on the wagon since the start. It started just to be contrarian as he wasn't nearly as bad as a lot of posters had made him out to be. As he went on though, it grew to genuine affection for the big guy. He just never stops trying, and you have to love him for it.

Slowly becoming a cult hero. At least for the supporters sitting around me at the SCG

You would image this is the next step in his development. I look forward to this possibility eventuating.

Loves to follow up his tap work with some pressure. Great asset for team structure.

Played 92% of gametime last night. 92%. For a ruckman who I saw playing for perhaps 15 minutes up forward. He's certainly got great fitness behind him, with a very strong will to work hard. Plus his athleticism, he goes horizontal to put tackles in at times. Big fan of Deetrix (that's what me and my mate call him after the SCG ground announcer pronounced his name incorrectly 2 weeks in a row in the player intros).

I was thinking last night, it's almost like he's a ruck tagger. I can't think of any ruckman who has played a dominant game against him so far. And despite losing hitout counts, we haven't been losing clearance counts.

Geelong's rucks tapped the ball directly to our players on a few occassions last night. Like, they weren't sharked taps. They were literally directed straight to Swans players. I reckon Derickx has put the hard word on them (maybe just stared them down), and, in reality, he's won the hitout before the ball is even thrown up. Should be a stats column for that.

You're right, I was counting 2 things last night with my friend after quarter time; the number of times Hamish McIntosh delivered the ball directly to Josh Kennedy and the number of times Mark Blicavs butchered the ball in defence. We got to 6 and 5 respectively.

Can Pyke derail the train?
e
Pyke is number 1 no doubt but he had a limited pre season and struggled to ruck out a hole game at the start of the year and now has been out for 4 weeks. He should get fitness back and come back via the 2s , plus no way should we play 2 rucks and drop one of Lloyd/Harry as the balance is now spot on midfield wise and forward wise.
We have seen now that Tippett and Buddy need space so another resting ruck down there might cause congesting and no way do we drop a runner in Harry or Lloyd

He's been fantastic and very effective in his role, I just worry about losing the hit-outs by such big margins. In a close game it helps to have a ruckman who can just belt the ball forward to get it out of the congestion. Still agree with Punts, Pyke is the number 1 ruck no doubt, but at least now we don't have to rush him back, he can take his time to get himself 100% right since I don't think the team can carry an underdone Pyke and we can't play 2 rucks with the current team structure.

has pyke won the hitouts

do we leave both out and bring in mitchell and just crumb the opposition ruckman?:p

Imagine if we did that and still won by 100+...

If pyke was fit, would you choose him over d Rex right now?

Ummmm can i phone a friend?

Ok look drex has been good and i want pyke to play a ressies game first

But pyke is still my first choice ruck

But he wouldnt want to be poor

The boys really seem to like playing with him as well. At season's end, he may be in the conversation around the pick up of the year
