Thanks guys, was a shock we got through it in the end. Were just about ready to give up a couple of hours beforehand; great team effort to hang in there and eventually get him down without trailing off.

No good drops for me; got myself the shader, the new ship, a helmet I've already got and some energy, but it was great to experience taking him down. Hopefully a bit more luck next week.

Good luck to the other group(s) planning on giving it a go before reset. It's tough to get a rhythm but once you find it it's not too bad.

Congrats on the hard Crota victory guys, I don't think we're far off doing it either just need most of the group on when we next attempt it.

Saw this on Kotaku sounds like the next DLC won't make CE raid gear redundant & we may not have to go through the exotic upgrade grind again.

I saw that article too. Good news, but I think this comment rings true:
"They're listening."

I guess that's great but they shouldn't constantly need the community to make basic, obvious design choices for them.
Will be interested to see how they combat the areas they've identified as needing improvement.

Did you try the heavy ammo trick? Sure it's an exploit but only to counter the bug.

We tried it once but couldn't get it working
Haven't heard of it.

If you empty all your ammo (for primary No Land Beyond works best for doing that quickly) and equip Icebreaker and a heavy with Surplus (like Corrective) then shoot all the left and right adds with Icebreaker, then every ammo drop you get is purple. Then switch to rocket launcher and ill your boots, and have some to come back to.

It wasn't working for us but I didn't realise you needed the heavy with Surplus so that might be why.

Like I said, it's clearly an exploit but I'm ok with it in principle whilst the heavy ammo bug still isn't fixed and Xur isn't selling synths

We don't cheese.

Sounds like a lot of effort. :P

Yeah that's cool. As I said it's only because of the bug and the fact that many of us were shit out of synths that we even gave it a try.

You could make an argument that hard mode actually forces you to cheese by its dumb design, where things like extra wizards and gatekeepers and over leveled enemies almost demand players use only tiny bits of the map where they can fight the Boss without needing to worry about the adds - technically the very definition of cheesing.

But even that's completely different to what is beyond doubt an exploit, so I can understand not wanting to use it. I just mentioned it to you because it exists and the bug had clearly effected you. But you guys are obviously good enough you didn't need it anyway.

this here is awesome:

Really good, basically removes the Boomer knights as a threat and allows for clearing of the mobs/ogres without too much risk.

Great timing on the sword work and shield take downs.

Was that red death they were using to replenish health?

I should get to levelling mine by the look of it!

One kill begins a health recharge, the gun has gone from an underappreciated oddity to being a very easy way to guarantee health regen.

If you have Hunger of Crota & Black Hammer. You can still run an effective damage set up as well.
