Because you'd get a lot of people afk ing, without mics and general ******* around that you get on strike playlists. Also, you'd get paired with random classes, people with underleveled gear and idiots.
For that reason, DestinyLFG and r/fireteams exist. You can at least then see who the player is, what level/gear their running and most of them have mics. Having a manually compiled team may seem like chore - but trust me. You wouldn't want it to be match made.

Are raids that hard really? I'm honestly asking as I always play with random so I'm usually stuck doing story, patrol or strike missions as I had no idea that LFG existed until Monday.

I don't think I've ever completed a raid, but strike missions I rarely have any issue, completed the level 24 strike playlists with randoms on Tuesday we were all underleveled although one guy had a kick arse handcannon.

No comms and yet got the flawless strike achievement on of all strike missions that one with the giant hydra thing is down the bottom of a pit with mobs of adds that just keep ****ing teleporting in.

If someone's that much of a dick you can easily V2K and the technology exists to auto detect mics in order to cue.

I've played games which blackout some que's if you don't have comms

Can everyone post the exotics they are missing? Interested to compare people's drops.
Hawkmoon, universal remote, invective, thunderlord, suros, mida tool, no land beyond, 4th horseman, red death, bad juju/SGA (working on bounties), dragons breath & of course Gjallahorn a shit load considering how much time I've put in.

I know I don't have:
Icebreaker
Hawkmoon
Thunderlord
Red Death
Bad Juju (had it sharded it now working on bounty again)
Thorn (working on bounty)
Invective (abandoned bounty as Crucible part was pissing me off)
Monte Carlo
Pocket Infinity (working on nightfall fusion rifle kills)
Universal Remote
Vex Mythoclast

No DLC exotics yet.

Not going to add the bounties because they are in my control. Got Super Good Advice but shared it and haven't bothered trying for the others. Don't want them except Thorn, which I'd love, but I'm rubbish at PvP.

To be honest, whilst there's some I'm missing and would love, I actually consider myself pretty lucky. I have Suros, Ice Breaker, Vex, and Fatebringer, which I consider the elite weapons. If I had Gjallarhorn Hawkmoon and Cornflakes I'd consider myself blessed. Not counting the new ones of course

Can't really compare strikes to raids. Raids require full team co-operation.

While it's probably possible - I really don't think bungie would implement raid matchmaking at all. They try to emphasize on teamwork and communication when designing the mechanics of the raid.

That being said, I'm sure the people here would gladly take you through a raid run if LFG doesn't tickle your fancy. I'm still on holiday myself - will be back online around New years. There are a lot still around here that could and would take you through.

I get the comments regarding raid matchmaking, but the raids still require a core group of the same people regularly playing at the same time, not everyone has the benefit of being able to sit around for 2-3 hours to see if a spot is open somewhere.

Add to the fact any newbie/casual just hitting level 20 would have NFI with places like lfg, because as we all know the game really doesn't steer you in any sort of direction.

I think some of the negatives you've mentioned Tupp would be common but taking into account the fact Destiny has a pretty good gaming community, and I myself reckon have only dealt with about 2% of idiots during strikes, some modified matchmaking option really wouldnt hurt if the existing fireteam option remained.

Man you've been lucky in strikes then. I usually get one person afk ing on average about 3/5 strikes, disconnects near the start and mid way also happen a lot and spots can often go unfilled. I usually only enter the playlist with the guys on here to avoid that.

Apart from that time me and Dan ran into meborat1, he was a beautiful stranger who joined us for synchronized speeder backflips mid strike.

I understand that someone who just hit 20 wouldn't know about LFG, but I'm sure most people do by now. There's even been an interview on bungie.net with the creator of the site. Which goes to show bungie welcomes 3rd party matchmaking.

blerg. Wanted to jump on today. Thought I might play some shadow of mordor instead and now there is a 3GB update. Like seriously. Just can't get some gaming on today.

Pretty lame 'hacker' war happening right now.
Attention seeking script kiddies don't deserve the term 'hacker' even with inverted commas.
