Unlike Crota, there are multiple sections where you need 2-4 people at least. Plus you will be 3 levels lower than all of the enemies so you'll be 1 shot material for pretty much everything.

He won't be able to get in the door yet. Ideally you would be both around the 28 mark for normal.

You also need 3-6 members to open the front door of the vault. You pretty much want to be in a full fireteam the first time that you do it.
