Maybe Neeld is paying too much attention.

Maybe. Just don't like the automatic assumption that Neeld sucks at his job because of Craig. While it's highly amusing for the Craig haters, it's very unfair given all the circumstances Neeld finds himself in. As stabbie points out, he's been given very little to work with. And so has Craig. It's a complicated situation that's worthy of more than "it's Craigs' fault" wise arse cracks.

That's what I have heard.

Neeld should have been his own man as he may now never know...

Neeld just sucks at his job. Like the incompetent office brown nose who "works" their way to the top.

The board meeting was not supposed to start until 1:30 est and I suspect any announcement wont be released until after that .

Say 3:00 pm est.
We know Neeld is 99% going to be sacked.

The question is will Craig also be given the boot?

Also, who will be the replacement - Viney, Rawlings in the interim? Who long term - Clarkson, Choco?

Craig is a dead man walking - either by the process today at the broad meeting by not meeting the requirements of the board or at a latter date because of the link to Steven Dank and not informing the board of his involvement at the MFC.

Long term, they will need an experienced coach who can give them direction, stability and creditability by having the runs on the board. Clarkson would have to be an idiot to leave the Hawks but if they win the premiership this year, Buddy leaves and the MFC throw a truck load of money at him - who knows what his decision will be.

At the stage, Choco looks the man for the job and he will bring a few of his Port people along for the ride.

The word around Melbourne is Rawlings will get the caretaker job knowing he will not get the job next year.

I doubt he'll be captain next year, whatever happens I wonder if this would change his outlook. He just needs a change and to get the hell away from that club.

Who knows now with the way things are atm in Melbourne, I only seen my friend once in the past year too so anything could have changed in that time. Which reminds me to call him as he still owes my wife the book he got while he was in France lol

Melbourne hasn't got the $600,00+ needed to pay out Neeld's contract which runs to the end of the 2014 season, apparently he's on $400,000+ a season so unless the AFL step in with some cash the Dees are at an impasse.

And...

WE DID DODGE A BULLET!!!!

WE DID DODGE A BULLET!!!!

Look, I don't believe culture plays a huge part in how a football club can operate but I do believe internal decisions can make it a lot harder than it needs to be.

Look at the intelligence Dean Bailey was able to bring to our club last year and the positive approaches and strategies he was able to implement. He couldn't do a thing with that club and has been able to demonstrate he does know what he is talking about.

Then look at the winning culture, coaching system and operation Mark Neeld has come from. I doubt someone like Mick Maulthouse would give him the praise and coaching accolades he has, if he didn't deserve it.

Therefore, I don't think we dodged a bullet as anyone who was given that job was on a hiding to nothing and always pushing shit up hill to turn that club around. Who ever takes over will need to hope and pray that the board is overthrown and then a brand new direction can take place.

Sums it up perfectly.
