I'm hoping dimma's memo to FJ would read something like this
Pick 1 Inside mid, can run all day, knocks up 25-30 possies at will with precision passing 80%+ efficiency Min 181cm 79KG
Pick 2 Goalkicking Freak, kicks them from anywhere, left or right, can turn a gamer on it's head in a few minutes Min 182cm 81KG
Pick 3 Ruckman cum forward, has a leap like sergio bubka, has safer mits than Iron gloves and can kick
Pick 4 Speedy link player, can run like the wind but wins plenty of footy, Junior averages >25 a game with 80% effic Min 181 81KG
Pick 5 A speculative tall from a 2nd or 3 tier league...a born FF has kicked 120 or more 195+ 90KG+.....must be quick , one touch mark worth a second chance
I expect we'll upgrade a couple of rookies so 5 selections will prob see us out. and this will be a step forward from TW's
speedy outside player, couldnt care if they never touched it Min 184cm 65KG

Pick 1: Best Available
Pick 2: Best Available
Pick 3: Best Available
Pick 4: Best Available
Picks 5-? Then start to assess on a team needs basis
If you take Geelong as the model as what we're trying to achieve, we don't have enough depth in any position to be getting cute with our early selections (the few we have) and not taking the best available talent.
There was talk that we should have taken Butcher over Martin last year because of he better suited a perceived need we had. Not saying Buther won't be a good player, but can you imagine the stick we'd be copping if Martin was running around in a Freo jumper at the moment??
Its gonna be tough enough getting decent talent out of the next few drafts as it is with our picks. We can't take any risks early on with what is already a comprimised talent pool.
No chance we will get that done. Rance actually played well today for coburg, and when he has been playing for richmond this year it was in the forward line.E.G rance to Hawks for their first pick then trade that along with our third pick for Macintosh.
Bwaahaaaahaaaa....gee dude, never would have thunk it...
So you really believe that Damien would want all that yeah? I mean, and i will take a real wild guess here, its so wild it is completely ridiculous, but I would be having a couple of dollars on the FACT that 17 other coachs' wishlist would be a photocopy of your stupid "STATE THE ****ING OBVIOUS" wish list.![]()

Unless if they really really rate Rance or he improves and shows he is a gun player they will not offer there first pick for him and our 3rd which will be in the 40's."no chance" big words considering they made a play at rance two years ago
Dimma has already stated that the weak link of our team is the lack of outside midfielders. Surely thats our priority.

geez i hope not. not with early picks anyway. well rounded players are the priority with pick 4.
for those who think we have ample quality ball winning mostly inside mids. or extractors if you like.
i can name two foley and martin. you can add tuck but hes very ordinary in other areas of his game plus hes what 29 and not a part of the long term.
give me foley and martin over any supposed purely outside mid anyday. they are just as damaging than most outside players anyway. ffs i hope we target well rounded big bodied mids if we go after one at 4.or at least a mid who can go get his own ball when theres a need to.
you dont target outside players who cant win the ball with pick 4 no matter the footskills. their form is just too reliant on others in the team.

Yea that Cotchin kid is a spud, can't get a clearance if his life depended on it.![]()

I think he was wondering why he wasnt in the sentence with Foley and Martin.Yeah Rustof, slack bastard is only ranked 8th in the league for clearances with 5.9 a game, Jackson also doing very poorly, ranked equal 15th (with Montagna) in the league with 5.0 a game while regularly playing as a tagger. Tuck and Martin are 21st and 23rd respectively in the league.
It's pretty obvious we need more out of our 3rd year juniors and really have to start looking for a hardman tagger who can hurt the opposition going the other way.
Santa does make a good point though, it's better to have mids who can win the ball in their own right and kick well, rather than targeting players who just kick well.
Danny Meyer kicked well, still does.![]()
