just watched a vid on IGN of all the different ways you can do the first mission, this just looks like my perfect game i cant wait!
im picking it up tonight, pretty shattered i got cricket tomorrow.

Sport comes before video games, you should know this! :p

Deus Ex had pretty average combat though and favoured stealth players. From what I can gather from reviews and impressions it seems that this game doesn't have a bias towards a particular play style and rewards players equally whichever path they choose to go down.

I think Dishonored heavily favours stealth players much more than Deus Ex especially when you consider the "good ending" is only achievable on a stealth-non lethal playthrough. Any sort of death in this game and you get "bad ending".

Not to mention nearly half the trophies are awarded to Ghost/Non-lethal playthroughs in Dishonored.

Anyway, I am surprised at how much I like this game (maybe I shouldn't be cos I generally like the stealthy games), it is definitely one of the best of the year, if not the best.

Yeah, I'm about 10 hours in and I can't imagine playing this any way other than stealthy.

But my god is this way more fun than Deus Ex or what? That game felt like a chore at times for me but this game feels genuinely thrilling. The blink mechanic is a game changer, the way you can just shoot around the world taking guys out or disappearing from view is what makes this game so much fun.

Can you customise your character?

Weapons
Apparel

My brother smashed through it killing anyone in his path.

I have been slowly creeping through the (lovely) world, avoiding killing and being seen (also limiting my use of powers).

I'm enjoying it and my brother is actually enjoying watching my stealthy approach, rather than his own play through.

It's a lot like skyrim in a steal punk world, without the customization and the communication. The different approach around the missions is very fun. It's also a challenging game if you play how I assume the game Intends you play it.

It looked like a real contender for GOTY but if I'm honest it does fall short of my lofty expectations what I have seen so far (I'm nowhere near the end, as far as I can tell). It's perhaps a 7 out of 10.

Good fun.

just finished my first play-through, game of the year so far for me. It was just so much fun, i'm probably going to go back and play as a beast and kill everything to see what its like. I played pretty much full stealth and not killing anyone till the last couple of acts

How many hours did it take?

Pretty close to the end. It sucks you in, and has massive replay value. Not sure if it's GOTY, but it's at least a nomination.

Certainly an entertaining game with a freshness that this year certainly needed in respect of gaming.
Not sure if anyone will agree with me but an option for third person view might have made this even better.
Quality game though.

Don't know how you guys haven't killed anyone. I only just started, and at the end of the first mission have already killed like 7 people, I didn't have a choice.
Tell that to the judge. ;)

Escape and hide is always an option! Try completing the first mission without being seen - a lot of saves and controller throwing are involved!

For those that are trying the Ghost route, I'm fairly certain you are only seen when the three white alert signals around a persons head turn red - maybe someone can clarify that all three have to turn red, but I've been playing on the basis that one one bar turns red it's time to reload.
