A week before Xmas & the animal refuges are already full up with pets dumped by their owners, seems people don't want to pay boarding fees for the pets while they go on holidays, so are dumping them, a POX on any people who are doing that.

They are already filled to overflowing & are requesting that if anyone is thinking of buying a pet, or giving a pet to someone for Xmas, to please take one of these homeless ones from a refuge.

Also, if you are buying a pet as a present, make sure the person you are giving it too wants it & will continue to love it, after it has gone past the cute puppy, kitten stage.

I'm as angry as you are about this mantis. Definately not the way things should work.

I only wish I could afford it, because if I could I would go and adopt at least one dog, but my finances are stretched with the one I have.:(

Yeah that's true.

And that new fridge would have set you back a lot ;).

People that do it should be shot.

Scum of the Earth.

I get angry as hell, it costs me $180 to board Kenny when i go to Melbourne every Anzac Day holiday, if I couldn't afford to pay to board him, then I would stay home.

The new fridge, plus the master cylinder in my car packed up last week, another $230, someone is poor this Xmas. :(

Santa won't be visiting Kenny this year. :D

I spoke to my cousins fiance Truong who runs the local takeaway, and he assures me that he wants a dog for Chrissie. Said there was absolutely no chance it would end up back at the pound.

Hear Hear. I moved into a small house so unfortunatly I can't keep a dog, (small backyard) and I needed a pet (can't live without em) so I have a psycho cat (reincarnated, I'm sure) I bought from the RSPCA.

Doing an Animal Tech. course this year included a subject on animal welfare which told the real truth about homeless animals and which also showed dogs/cats on death row, and showed even more than that unfortunatly. It was really effective, and it broke my heart so I also urge people to pick them up from the refuge.

I just spoke to my local psycho cannibal & he wants your address, he guarantees that after he visits you, the world will no longer be bothered by you. :D

Oh an aside, I doubt very much if you would talk to someone with the name Truong.

Too true. Apparently dogs don't keep that long, so you pretty much just gotta eat 'em straight away.

Anyway back to the original topic, strange how animals have more ethics & compassion than a lot of men.

Disposable pets are a great idea.

Did you know it supposedly takes 500 years for a disposable nappy to break down? I am pretty sure a disposable pet would biodegrade in a much fast time.

I agree. I just don't know how anyone could dump an animal just cos they're going away.
Probably in the next few years we'll be getting a dog, & we'll most likely get it from the RSPCA. That's where we got our rabbits from. :)

There are too many people are so unkind to animals as well which cause their pets to turn on little kids.

We have a neighbour who hates dogs and cats. He threw a pitchfork at my cat which hit him in the leg. We had to get the cat put down.

Our neighbour has told my parents that he hates our dog because he barks.

I would have thrown the pitch fork right back at the neighbour & had HIM put down!

Cats make an excellent base fertilizer for hydrangeas.

Could`nt get a hydrangea to flower for the life of me, but buried our cat that died, banged a hydrangea macropphylla on the thing & 12 months later, bingo, flowering heads everywhere, good source of blood & bone.

Hope this helps for uses of disposable pets.

Are you sure he wasnt going for you and instead hit your poor cat who was next to you at the time?

:(

Our dog was a stray. We think she was about 6 months old when we found her around Easter, so it lines up that she was a Christmas present thrown out to fend for herself when the owners wanted to go on holidays:mad:  ... Beautiful purebred Maltese, we fell in love with her the moment we saw her. Registered her at the pound, while keeping her at home. They never claimed her and we've had her for 5 and a half years. We couldn't have found a better dog if we tried.

If you dog barks I'd hate it too if I was your neighbour, we have a dog, we have taught it only to bark at strangers.

And Im assuming your cat was on his property for him to throw a pitch fork?
If it was then its fair games, people who own cats and let them outside so they can invade other peoples properties should have pitch forks thrown at them as well as their pets.
