A few clubs will be dealing with 28 day breaks looking at that fixture. That's terrible. Re-fixture needed. Preferably 4 bye rounds for the whole division to have a week off so everyone gets the same breaks.

I wouldn't be a fan of playing 14 rounds at all myself, but not that surprised at the outcome either. It's not completely unreasonable for clubs to want to have an equal draw

The smartest thing to do would have been home & away for 14 rounds then for the last for rounds group the clubs in lots of 2 & play 1 game v every group, yes a bit of work & thinking outside the square but its not very difficult to manage.

Regardless of what could have or should have been done, the decision has been made. Time we all move on, although I think there was some great suggestions in here by members about what to do with struggling clubs moving forward. Certainly something to consider moving forward for all divisional teams in the VAFA.
Here's my prediction for the ladder:
Westbourne
Aquinas
Canterbury
Parkside
Richmond Central
Manningham
North Brunswick
St Emmaus

from recruiting and last years form, I would see ladder as

Canterbury
Aquinas
Westbourne
Manningham
North Brunswick
St Leos
Parkside
Richmond Centrals

there are big challenges for all division 2-4 clubs. Each one has there own specific issues at times and i personally cant see it improving without some brave VAFA intervention.
I do wonder if it would be worth considering allowing clubs that are in serious trouble (for example Glen Eira 2016, Eltham 2018, St John's 2019, Swinburne 2019 - plus more) are granted 1 season to remain in the division they are in but be allowed but be excluded from entering in a reserves team? Not ideal, but surely a better outcome for the club's future prospects. I really cant see much chance of a club rebuilding if they are forced out of say D2 into Clubbies. Longway back to D2 from D4.

We all know clubs can have bleak periods but all options should be on the table to be discussed in ordered to save clubs from dissolving. IMO, the division clubs are the very best part of the VAFA and everything needs to done to make sure they remain strong.

In Women’s Premier C the VAFA has allowed Old Melbournians to have a single team in a seniors/reserves comp! (The pulled their reserves team out recently)

Why not let Swinburne do the same in D3? Perhaps cause they are not Old Melbournians or similar?

Too much common sense for the VAFA's liking.... How is your team Nth Brunny travelling Claudia ?.
Looking forward to reaquainting our rivalry with the lads !.

Bar sales at an all time high with our women’s teams!!!!! Blokes can’t keep up.

Lost a few and gained a few, but there is no doubt Thursday nights will be pumping at Allard Park.

Cobras should push for spot in top 4, unless they have top 5 in finals, if top 5, Frank will have boys up and about, they have picked up gun from Scoresby!

Every year we hear about Canterbury and their recruiting and every year what happens if you have 10 blokes do pre season and only train one night a week eventually it will show. Pressures on Cobras let see how you go time to put up.

I think you've missed Rog - if the reference is to Frank I assume it's Manningham

Rog, no one from Canterbury has said anything in regards to recruits. We’re coming from fair way back and we know it. Aquinas and Westbourne are rightfully favourites for the flag.
Looking forward to the year ahead.

Canterbury were up by 46 points or so at half time and then kicked the first goal of the third quarter against the eventual premier who ended up winning the game in round 18 last year, so there must be an amazing amount of potential there

Those who know me would realise I dont miss I know who Frank is and what club he is at and I note no one from Canterbury has said we dont train one night a week or do pre season. Westbourne flag favourites nice to hear we will be competitive again but not as strong as previous teams.

Are you watching us train again, Rog? Long drive...
As much as i'd prefer to train once a week we do train twice. We've also average some good numbers at pre season. Best numbers for years. Doesn't guarantee we'll be any good but time will tell.
I see Brayden Smith off to Geelong. Big loss. $$ to good to turn down?

How are clubs numbers looking? Do any teams have clubbies? That tends to be a sign a club will be strong through lots of depth.
I'm tipping a very even divvy 3 this season, Aquinas early favourites..

I hope Westbourne win the flag as the Rodstar is low on petrol funds.

Whats everyone's tips for round 1

My sister lives across the road so occasionally I get to watch you blokes. Any player is a loss these days Brayden didn't play many games in the last two years.
