A Chris Judd or Nick Riewoldt would certainly help, and many believe they can'y win it without a James Hird, Michael Voss type figure. Gary Ablett and Matthew Scarlett are the two who, while they will never get to that level, can be matchwinners. Instead of a superstar the Cats will look for guys from left field, like a Cameron Mooney or Steven Johnson, to play out their skulls in the big games.

i think i've read that somewhere before....

this is a pretty thick notion, what is Chris Judd going to bring to the club? I think it's fairly well acknowledged that we have one of the better midfields around, and we've already got 10+ of them.

There's no real place for any of these players, (except maybe a Riewoldt/Brown, altho I have high hopes for H) and only a sheep judges a player by their 'SuperStar Status'

That's bull, Judd and Reiwolt are yet to reach Scarlo's level. When Scarlo was AA, he was the best player in the comp, I don't think those 2 have reached that status yet. Judd would be mighty close, but I think he still needs to improve his skills to be judged an all time great like Scarlett. I think Gaz will eventually reach that level.

Can't disagree with this more. Scarlo is a tremendous player, most certainly in the TOP 10 in the comp and would be a walk up start in any side. But give Riewoldt and Judd some credit. Judd has won a brownlow, and the two of them at one point or another in their short careers have been named the best players in the comp. They are already where Scarlo is at!

On the superstar thing, it is amazing how a premiership medallion can raise the image of players to superstar status. Perhaps many of this group will be considered superstars at seasons end. Lets also not forget that for 85% of the group there best footy lies ahead of them in the next 4 - 5 years. Scary thought really. Ablett, Chapman, Corey and perhaps Enright might just one day be considered superstars, and who knows what lies ahead for Matty Egan. Destiny is in their hands. We don't need a superstar, we have a superstar team. Just watch todays third quarter !!!

No.

We dont have to rely on any one player whos performance determines our success. A la North and Carey in the 90's.

Our eveness and our depth make us a very hard team to match up on.

In time some of our guys apart from Scarlo may be recognised as superstars (if they get AA selection etc.) but not having them recognised as such NOW is not a weakness.
