Think he's a really good player, but no thanks. We would have to give up too much for a player who may have another 3 good years left.
Wouldn't want to give up what Sydney would want for him.

short answer...no.

Can tell you a few stories about what a tightars he is. Asked his mates to come to sydney for his engagement party then hit them for a fee for his party and turned off the grog after two hours. This from a bloke on 450k per year whilst his batttling mates scrapped a few dollars together to fly Jetstar to be fleeced by their mate.! lifelong friends ....very unimpressed

Very sad what happened to his brother in 2004 but no thanks to this bloke.

WIll be chasing serious money as it is his major priority in life.

we really dont need another mid size foward. prefer the ones we already have in the team. brown , morton , reiwoldt unless they would be happy to take petts of our hands.

Regardless of what we would have to give to the swans for him, why would we want him?

We could drop one of our curent forwards for him and in a couple of years rue his arrival at the expence of our young list.

If we are to recruit anyone for any picks or players then he must be a qualtiy mid or ruck, we have an obundance of backs and forwards.

NO O'KEEFE:thumbsd:

I think the gun is on the money. Mail is that Petts has interest in Sydney and vice versa (and this from a good source just after the swan-dive in the finals). So Petts and a high pick? (or lower two?). One side of me says Brownie isn't any younger and the other says let's use these high picks on the future. But the word is - we will be involved in a high profile trade.

yep yep yep
Gun
should have been all australian this year
WE GO FOR OKEEFE AND COUSINS

Okeefe plays tall
is a lovely kick and is a great mark

get them both and were flying

pick 26 and a player
the swans are in desperate need of foot speed
we have a few blokes with a whole lot of speed who are tradeable

he'll be 28 at the start of next season, if he was 2-3 years younger yes definitely he's a gun but in reality would cost way to much, so no.

We should certainly enquire about him. I don't buy into the age thing, he would have at least 4 years of great footy left, and besides, aren't we always crying out for those middle aged guys that we are so short on? While I wouldn't give up Pick 8 for him, we'd be nuts not to offer maybe our 2nd and 3rd rounders plus perhaps someone average?

EDIT: Giving up way too much there actually, perhaps something along the lines of...

#26 + #42 + Pettifer
for
O'Keefe + their 4th rounder? (ie. pick 60 odd)

28 doesn't equal middle aged player, middle aged players that we are short on are in the 23-27.

FFS some people are so stupid, going after players coming towards the end of their career, probably his last contract is the exact reason we have been so crap for so ****ing long.
Open your eyes everybody:rolleyes:
Develop our own players who will be around for much much longer then O'Keefe will be, thats how you win flags not by topping up

Exactly.
The rewards from keeping our picks for the best kids is finally paying off.
The days of trading pick 2 and 6 for Johnson and Browny are over. Anyway if we're gonna go after a big name player you would think it would be kerr. Middle aged and another gun mid would fit in perfect.
On the O'keefe issue, i would rather just develop Morton and Riewoldt and those likes.

I don't think it will matter either way becuase he will most likely end up at collingwood, straight swap for didak, or pretty close to it... Kerr would be the only big name that RFC should chase, and that would only be if we could get hime cheap, which is no chance because he is still contracted.
