Do we really need the extra priority pick?

Everyone know the Dees won't make the finals this year. In this case, Pick 1 & 2 plus 17-20 will be very useful unless Fremantle and Richmond don't tank.

From 2010 onwards, I hope the Dees will be as powerful as in the 1960's.

I'd prefer the 1950's.

what happens if freo win less than 4 and so do we?

All depends who finishes bottom ie if us and freo win 4 games each and they finish bottom by % they get pick 1 and we get picks 2 and 3(priority) or 1 and 2 if we finish bottom which i think will happen.
I have a lot of confidence that freo and richmond will win in excess of 7 games,id throw essendon above us then maybe sydney..

tellin ya, if we can snare this priority i will be ****ing pumped. imagine draft day. pick 1 melbourne football club : John Butcher
pick 2 melbourne football club : tom scully,
this team will be ****ing scary:thumbsu:

Any point even bothering to watch the rest of the season if you don't want us to win?

Go live in a cave with Osama Bin Laden and come back to wank on about how smart you are on draft day.

This.

I'd rather watch the confidence of our already talented young list grow with each win, rather than start getting thumped again and hope two 18 year-olds will save the day.

Financially we can't afford to keep having shit years no matter how many picks we get, because losing kills our attendances, membership and sponsors.

I know it is extremely unlikely we'll push for finals, but I'd rather the players go out and try to win every match they possibly can. Culture >>> Picks.

I'd be ****ing pumped to beat the living crap out of you.

Talk about your ****ing draft picks at the end of the season.

:thumbsd:

Yeh, because Bate is a half-forward and Jones is an inside mid.

Yeh, really similiar.

 .

I am disgusted to read some of the thoughts in this thread.

You can shove your picks up your arse, because when you watch the boys sing the team song you realise what the game is all about.

You idiot.

Your prepared to surrender a FREE DRAFT PICK #2 on top of pick #1 for the sake of hearing the team sing the club song a couple more times. Sing in the Shower, or when they run out if it's that important to you right now:confused:

Your still going to be bottom 4 so there is not alot to be singing about.

Have a look at the Big picture. Look at the Hawks............A couple of superstars in Hodge, Buddy and Roughead all top 5 picks, a premiership and a few years later they are suddenly a powerhouse AFL club. That's what you should model your clubs structure on. You need to be successful on the field to be successful off in pumping up your supporter base.

The game is all about winning flags. You know when commentators talk about junk goals at the end of a game for a team who has already lost, well thats where the Dees are at. Premiership pts are meaningless to you this season in your bid to climb back to the top in coming years.

It's the system whether you like it or not, you have to take full advandtage while you can. Don't let pride get in the way of what you know is best for your club. Kernahan and Kouta would die for the blues yet they were hoping the blues lost as many games as possible in 2007. They did....................they secured judd with their Priority Pick and the rest is History.

Wow I thought Dee's fans had some smarts.

Your Shite and you need all the help you can get and your more concerned with winning half a dozen games to clap and sing to give up a bonus Pick #2!

That pick #2 will be a star for 10+ years.................No-one will remember that hard fought win over the Dockers in Round 20, 2009 that cost you that star player.

Oh that's right I forgot. All high draft picks are guaranteed stars, I mean look at Josh Fraser he's an out and out champion.

Pride>>>>Picks

Now please GTFO!

St Kilda is sitting on top of the ladder, a place i think everyone here wants Melbourne (well maybe not JackMac). And you guessed it the Saints at 4-0 have 3 more renditions of 'oh when the saint...' than we have 'its a grand old flag's'.

Not to mention St Kilda was not offered as the ideal model.

But yes Des right now we are crap. We just rolled over the line against Richmond. The win was kind of like r00ting a fat chick. It's great fun at the time but you're sure as sh!t not gunna tell your mates about it.

If we lose to the Bombers in rnd 12 and are 1-11 this point is mute. We must secure P1&2. But if like i'm hoping we turn up on Sunday and beat the snot out of the crows then game on!!

Priority pick comes before the first round so if Fremantle finish 16th and us 15th(on 4 or less wins) we get 1&3.
Interesting thought to throw out here -
If we finish with picks 1&2 and Pavlich is on the trade table at the end of the year would Pavlich + Fremantle's first round pick = pick 2 + pick 18?

Freo are touched, but not that touched...

I can't believe we're being lectured on success by a St. Kilda fan

Yeah Priority Picks Riewoldt #1 and Kosi #2, Goddard #1, Luke Ball #2, Dal Santo #15 and 3 preliminary finals later, oh yeah we are also on top of the AFL ladder as we speak.........Taking into our account injuries we had to deal with we could have easily walked away with a flag..............Maybe you'll have more luck then we have had;)

You've got a small fan base. I would be going all out to build something special, but then again why do I bother, you would rather be crap and complacent which is typical of Melbourne supporters. Maybe that's why your in the position your in now.

Yeah top draft picks mean nothing. We should concentrate on a few meaningless wins instead and still be shite at the same time.

Yep...............Another complacent Dee's fan!

Hope you guy's have some gun father sons on the horizon.:D

You do realise GC and WS have the 2010 and 2011 drafts. And right now your a shite team or are you holding out till 2012 to pick up another gun KPF or gun Mid.

You need this years priority picks. Jym Stynes isn't going to salvage this club and turn it around on his own. Watts, Butcher, Scully, Grimes, Strauss, Jetta, Blease, Jurrah etc............are your only hope.

Otherwise just keep putting along. How many years can Debt Demolition run for before you win a premiership?

Picks>>Premiership.

Gotta say, i'm 100% with you jackmac7.

I know what i would rather.

Watch the boys sing the song one more time against Fremantle, in a victory i surely won't remember in 12 months time or...

Tom Scully who will no doubt be an MFC player for 12+ years winning best and fairests and maybe even a brownlow or two. He has the talent.

1 win against a shit club (as AndyMac superbly put it, rooting a fat chick) or an elite player for the next 12 years.

If we get Picks 1 & 2 we will finally have the talent to win a premiership. What happens form there is luck.

They're alot closer now to a premiership then we have ever been for 40 years.

Call me when they make a GF. Until then it's all Sean Charles, Tony Francis, Gavin Mitchell and Monkey for me.

No doubt being shite for a long period of time helps, but it's not the only way.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I'm a Melbourne Demons member.

I have an investment in the club, so I deserve a say:thumbsu:

(having said all this you might roll Adelaide and have 2 wins from 5 games and this priority pick talk might not come up again til round 18 if your still with less then 5 wins):D
