I may be alone here but it would just not feel right to discuss the intricacies of the game with a woman.

I would like to think I don't have a type.
But people I know would say I go for someone who is short and cute.
I like the idea of a girl who's into footy, but I haven't seen many who are more than the "go team" and can name the players from their team and a few other players that they think are attractive or very high profile(Judd, Ablett etc.).

Because it would just be out of the ordinary and different to your stereotypical footy fan. It would be the same trying to talk about the game to someone say who was foreign and had a heavy accent. Over time you'd accept they they know a bit about the sport but at first it would be strange

That was meant to say one's genitalia sry. Ok well I get that. Makes sense. I assume after you got used to it, it wouldn't matter though?

Would love it if I could find a girl who loved footy as much as I do, tbh. Not sure where the downside to that is.

I don't understand guys who won't date a girl who loves her footy - she won't have a problem with you going to games, watching the footy on weekends etc, but already has her own group of friends/family to go with and won't insist on invading your group. I find it strange that so many guys seem to have a problem with it.

i like a girl who is into their footy, but there are downsides to it - for instance you just wanna go to a game on your own or with a couple of lads and have a bit of a boys night and she wants to tag along. you turn her down and starts a bit of a shit fight. or when she says something insanely stupid (as all football followers do) and you gotta try bite your lip. your team v her team can lead to a few issues too.

but overall it's much better than having one who's not into it and then complains about how much time you spend watching, playing and/or training for football.

Definitely agree about the part where the two teams play each other. Especially if you are at the ground together. Have come close to divorce several times for this reason.

See this is stupid too.

I have my own friends to go to games with- you could also go in a large group and not sit next to each other. In fact- in general I hate those couples who never seem to have a life/ interests separate to the other.

Agree with this, I can't see an issue with your mrs being into the footy. I'm a Carlton member and my girlfriend is a Geelong member so we go to most matches, however I only go to the footy with her when the Cats play the Blues (hasn't been fun for the past few years). It is great to be able to get away with my Carlton mates for a bit of "blokes time" and I'm sure it's the same with her and her Cats friends.

She is also right into Supercoach which is very handy as it basically consumes my life from March - late August. We're both going through a f##k you Daisy Thomas stage at the minute. It does get a little annoying when she beats my weekly score (I'm currently ranked 2,500, she is 7,000 so she clearly knows what she's doing). Massive bragging rights when we play each other (the loser has to shout the winner dinner, etc)

Another positive is being able to watch AFL 360, Open Mike, etc. meaning I don't have to sit through The Voice, The Block, Biggest Loser etc. :thumbsu:

Ps. Haven't quite been able to get her to enjoy Cricket yet, but life would be boring without challenges
