Basically just spits a lot of common sense.

Why put down $100 on a game you haven't played/seen enough of. Mostly influenced by the Aliens debacle how it was on the best seller list for steam when the only preorder bonus was an assault rifle or something.

Goes on to attack the review embargo tactics and basically anything that goes on to hide a turkey from the audience.

You don't have to put $100 down

You can cancel at any stage and get your money back. If reviews are bad in the 48 hrs leading into launch or in the 24 after, hold back.

Or preorder it, then buy it on launch day and you don't like it, return it. No money lost

I never buy a game when it's just released unless it's something I really REALLY want and I know what I'm in for, even then I don't pre-order. What I normally do when I buy games is wait a while for either a Game of the Year version with extra content or just give it a year or two until it becomes cheaper.

I got into this generation of gaming pretty late and I don't spend that much time gaming so it works out really well for me since there is so many games out there I still have yet to play.

Did you watch the video? That was basically what I was summing up, he mentioned 'Steam' multiple times as it is a lot harder to get a refund off of them for a poor product.

I am aware of the money back deals and such that EB offer, but I was merely offering cliffs for HBK.

I do tend to agree with the guy that the preorder stuff is annoying when it really should be included in the game. I'm a guy who waits for the reviews on most things both on here and specialist press.

If a studio knows the game is bad they just put a freeze on Reviews to stop them leaking out. lose/lose. Being a bit one eyed here but I've pre-ordered Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm but i probably wouldnt pre-order anything again. Im not fussed about D/C at all. I've been burnt by some incredibly shitty pre-ordered games (Dead Space/Colonial Marines/PS All stars) and just no.

Dead Space shitty?

I agree about the annoying part about a distict lack of reviews on games leading up to launch if the game isn't up to scratch. But 2 or 3 days after it's out people like us put our thoughts onto forums etc which hold more weight, as we're not paid kickbacks to write a glowing review if it's shite.

Lol i payed $118 at Eb games for the Collectors Edition only to be disappointed with the game. The only reason i got the Collectors Edition in the first place was for the Xeno Morp/Power Loader statue.

Yeah i'm a big Aliens fan, and i was kind of wished i went with the collectors edition not long after i just went for the game, but after playing it, i'm glad i didn't. I don't want a constant reminder of it sitting around the house. :P The 520g worth of achievements i got for it on my gamertag is bad enough. Haha.

I was a huge fan of the horror element in the first two, playing as Issac while he drifts into insanity did it for me. how he's just generic space marine with one too many laser rifles.

It's ok, However really i found it a pretty generic shooter has evolved out of a good series.

But i digress on what i believe is average, Ill stop being captain bring-down. It's still fun...kinda. Shitty is a bad word, let down would be a better term

How is it a lose/lose if you can get your money back if you play it and its shit?

That way reviews don't matter, its all about whether you like it or not

Depends on the game. If I want the game on release and I know it will be a popular day one purchase, I normally pre order to be safe. Also like pre ordering the special editions of games I want if they come with collectibles or other cool things.

Yes, As long as there is a bonus, otherwise i don't bother unless its a LE.
Have never had a problem cancelling a pre-order or shifting the $5 onto something else.
