In just 37 games in his career (less than Deledio even) Jay Schulz at 21 years of age has shown he has some of the best skills in the comp for a big man (80% goal accuracy after returning from injury last year).

He has shown he is an excellent mark and it is well noted that his leading is superb. So far in his short career he has struggled to stay in the game for 4 quarters. As a #12 draft pick he clearly has potential.

After seeing him in action today I have full confidence he will be a superstar of the competition. He is a genuine FF like Brendan Fevola (he even got busted drinking! lol), in one marking contest it was him on 2 Demons in the square and he outmarked both of them... just brilliant, even Richo would be proud. His impact on games is rising and his presence is becoming more and more dominant. His defensive pressure is one of his strengths - his tackling is like a hungry dog breaking out from his leash and attacking the intruder.

It seems a lot of people have written him off, and probably laugh at him because he plays for Richmond (he has very good skills though, weird).

We are talking about a 21yo KPP who has played 37 games.

.And conveniently lost a major sponsor for the club.

Don't drink and drive kiddies.:thumbsd:

Lol actually we got a better sponsor and more money.

Worked out well.

Now back to football... :D

btw, even though he's famous for drinking and unknown by some for anything else... that just makes my Brendan Fevola comparison even more likely!

Back to footy??

I wouldn't know him if I tripped over him.

But best of luck to the kid.

Mind you, if he is carrying the same backpack that you are putting on Polak, I pity him.

I don't think the expectations of 1 supporter will do him much harm ;)

Maybe the expectations of WA for a KPP to carry Freo to a premiership is tougher? ;)

I have watched his career very closely and think he'll be doing what Fevola is now, dominating from Full Forward, the kid has it all.

He has had a few injury concerns over the years and today he got a knock on his ankle but played on, look if he stays injury free he will be a dominant forward.

I think the talk of Deledio and Raines being or best yongsters is all got to do with media attention, make no mistake, Jay is or best junior talent. One of the best kicks at goal since Brendan Fevola, funny because I see the similarities in a lot of aspects of thier game.

As for him losing our sponsorship, well yes it was wrong and stupid to do what he did, but in the end, we got rid of the worst sponsor of any club in the TAC and got a better one that pays more money per annum to our clb, and sticks its nose out of our businessalso, so we definetely benefitted.

I think Richmond have 2 outstanding junior Forwards at the club, one is Jay Schultz, the other Jack Riewolt.

Schulz is a pathetic footballer. I'd be surprised if he's still playing AFL football in 2008. Every facet of his game is ordinary. The best thing the Tiges can do is keep this guy in the VFL, and provide an opportunity in their lineup, for a younger to develop. :)

He is pretty good in VFL kicking 18 goals in 3 games coming back from injury... but I think we'll save him for the real stuff ;)

Seriously, this guy has all the tools to be a superstar. Not just a flashy 6 goal a game every now and then style player, but a lot more like Fevola. When did Fev come good btw?

He'll be a good player at VFL level, but not AFL. Many many many Tiges fans agree on this point. I've seen this guy play a lot of footy at AFL level, and I really can't think of any attribute he has that would be a threat to the opposition. Keeping this guy in your senior lineup will just deprive younger players of invaluable experience. 2007 will be his last AFL season. :)

Ignoring his 2008 contract, why else do you think he will fail?

And on a serious note when did Fevola come good, I had the impression he came on late ? Not saying Schulz will come on late, he is still only 21 years old ;) Just one year older than Roughy!

Well he's not fast, is a poor contested mark, has poor footy smarts, is an ordinary kick, doesn't know how to time a lead, is terrible under pressure, has little natural ability, and he has been like that for 3-4 years. The worse thing the Tiges can do, is compound the draft error by playing this guy in their seniors. He has about 0.00000001% of Fevs natural ability. :)

You neglected to mention that we got that free kick because of 'hands in the back'!:p

As for Schulz he's probably better than any young KPF we have on our list - not saying he's a superstar or anything but definitely a competent AFL player. Have to wonder what Wallace was doing sticking him at CHB last season.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, suppose you have to find something out of an otherwise pathetic preseason. I really hope he plays in round 1, it'll be like playing against 21.

The least talented KPP in the competition, to say he has some of the best skills in the comp is laughable. Better than Cox, Hall, Brown, Pavlich, Lloyd, Fevola, Richo, Neitz, Lade, Tredrea, Simmonds, Everitt. Give us a break, he is a chump and if Richmond were serious they would've delisted him last year, taking up the place of a player who could add something to your list.

I think comparing him to Fev was meant to be a joke. Schulz is a VFL level-only player. :)

This is fantastic.

"Worst KPP in the AFL"

"Has no skills"

These are the type of threads that are great at the end of each season :thumbsu:

They'll be right. BTW the Tiges list is in a terrible state at the moment - not sure if you'll even be able to reach your traditional mid-ladder status. Instead of focusing on no-talents lke Schulz, why don't the Tiges invest some game time into younger, more promising players. :)

So wrong, Shultz is so far from a bad contested mark it isn't funny, and 80% goal kicking ratio disagrees with you're call that he has average skills.
If he played for the Blues he would be an incredible prospect full of raw talent, face it of you're younger KPP Kennedy is the only one compareable to Shultz, the rest are useless
