Barry Brooks - will be interesting to see wat happens with him now that a new coach comes in
wat would u do if u were coach - keep him or not

If it was up to me I would get rid of him but his performance in round 22 and the fact he's a ruckman might save his hide for another year.

Surely you give him a shot. I doubt he is getting paid much and unless there is another ruckman to come in, it seems a no brainer now that he has shown he can do it under pressure.

One more year!

They can't delist my man, Barry Brooks, now. He is still quite young, has had a number of preseasons under his belt, he is mates with many of the established players, and has just shown that he can play a role that we need to fill in a year's time (retirement of Gehrig).

He is not passionate about rucking but he is a big bodied tall with the ability to hold down either a key forward or ruck position.

We would be mad to delist him now.

Brooksy should have got a chance earlier in the year instead of us persisting with Blake and Ackland in the ruck. The one opportunity he did get, he made the absolute most of it. He showed all the signs of a great player. He is now much stronger physically and will have no trouble competing with the mature bodies of the AFL, he has excellent skills for a big guy, he's got plenty of pace on the lead, a good footy brain, is a strong mark and his ruckwork is the best of ayone at the club. These aren't things you can fluke in one game. He didn't just get a bunch of cheap uncontested marks and 10 uneffective hitouts, he actually contributed to the team in a way any good ruck/forward does, not some makeshift gap-filler like Blake.

He was considered a possibility to go number one in the 2001 superdraft so he obviously has the talent, and we would be mad to get rid of him now. Everyone is whinging that we need a quality ruckman and a possible replacement for Gehrig; Brooks will be one or perhaps both of those things.

Absolutely give him a shot.

Now Brooksy has a few extra years maturity and, as someone else pointed out pre-seasons, plus his form at Casey has been pretty good and his good game in round 22 will have boosted confidence.

He'll still need a season or 2 to really get to a level where we'd be happy with him, he'll also need to be given a consistent go - not a game here & there.

Hes 22 and getting some much needed confidence. Had a knee reco and needed a lot of time ..Hes a big unit and is keen as mustard to make it

He's definitely competing for a spot in the squad with Fergus Watts, will have to see how both players develop.
