Why does he deserve a flag more then long serving, loyal and better footballers such as David Mundy, Kade Simpson, Rory Sloane and Jack Steven?

No one deserves a flag. We have 18 teams, so if you gave each team the flag on a rotational basis, then because most players don't stay on an AFL list for 18 years, they would still miss out. So no, it is part luck (being in the right team right time), and part skill and execution (one thing being up there, another to actually win it.....see Adelaide, West Coast).
