Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Heath Buck sums it up for me perfectly.
For those unfamiliar with him he has a Blues channel on youtube called My Blue Heaven.

Whether you think he should be in the side or not the absolute tirades of vitriol and disrespectful comments directed towards Marc Murphy are disgraceful. Celebrate his contribution to our club over many of our toughest years and give the negativity a rest.
The angst should be directed at the club who are happy to compromise themselves to get Murph over the line. Selecting a player as the medical who you since stated was not able to play a full match, is just lunacy given we are under review and Teague's job was on the line.
It will be a hollow 300, instead of a rich and deserving 275 at the end of the day. That is a shame.
I don't think it will be looked back as a hollow achievement, it certainly won't be by myself and any of my Carlton supporting friends. It's what footy clubs do. We did the same for John Nicholls, carrying him over the VFL all times games record to overtake Teddy Whitten. He retired a few weeks later mid-season. He was cooked at the end of '73 but played on until mid '74. He could have retired shy of that record too, it doesn't diminish his status.
My angst is directed at Club 'supporters' who spend more time tearing the club down than anything else.
Nicholls lead us to a lot of success and the club was better positioned at the time. This is a club which hasn't made finals off their own bat for 10 years and hasn't made top 4 for 20 years.
I will remember the ending just as much as I'll remember the golden 2011 season.

Fair enough, I'll remember the battering he took by going in without fear against bigger and stronger opponents causing him injuries that saw him out for lengthy periods. I'll remember that he did this in a team that wasn't the best meaning he at times had to take on roles he shouldn't have had to. I'll remember a long time and talented player for my club.
I'm as big a Marc Murphy fan as you're ever gonna find, but unfortunately, this is where I'm at too.
I never saw Old Yeller, but I bet this is what the ending feels like.
Not sure why all the angst against Murphy.. We have such bigger problems..
Is he best 22? Probably not
Does he deserve to get to 300 games? Seeing he is only 4 games away, probably..
In 10-15 years he will be remembered as a Carlton 300 game player,
not all the negativity flying around at the moment..
Yes you will, and you will also remember that he was a shadow of that player in his last two seasons and we potentially sacrificed some wins in order to get him to an arbitrary number. That's my point.
Of course this is how the end looks like, it looked like this for Nicholls at the end, it wasn't the greatest end for Doull either. Silvagni got to his 300 and packed it in too.
It's not the end that we should focus on, it's everything leading to it.
I honestly don't know the number of games our legends have played - some played a lot, some of my favorites played half as much.
Sacrificing our club making finals, Teague, potentially players - for Murphy to get to a "number" - is something I know in the Carlton community (lived here all my life) has deeply troubled people.
I stand firm that there is a strong marketing spin about decisions being made at the club for "off field" performance - and Murphy's 300 feels like it is coming more from the club than even Murph.
I went through every single play in the second half against North - and paused the video and took notes on every single stoppage after half time - and Murphs game was deeply troubling.
I tend to think of Murphy now mainly as someone who does everything they can to avoid a tackle - and as a smaller type myself I take great pride in the toughness of smaller blokes who stand up to the giants - and thats how Murphy was 10 years ago.
He was throwing out one armed tackles at people as they ran past him in the VFL - when they just ran through him - he continued jogging down the field the opposite direction without hitting the brakes or even turning around. It was sad. Just threw the arm out - and trotted on.
Feel really bad for him - I think he is being used by people at the club and he really doesn't like it but wants to help out.
Sure, we lost the game because of Murphy, Mind you, he's playing while we have an injury list of 17 players unavailable.
I'd imagine they will play when they're ready for those still working on their games or when they are deserving of a game for those that haven't earned it yet, I have no issue with that. There's nothing that says we must debut players when they aren't ready just for the sake of it.
Regardless, none of this is Marc Murphy's fault.
3 of those guys yet to debut have been emergencies this year, Ramsay a couple of times including travelling as an emergency. Honey have been emergency and medical sub. Yet when Murph is fit, he comes straight back in and those guys who were named emergencies despite apparently not being deserving are thrown back to the VFL to work on their craft.
What do we expect from a debutant anyway? Growth and a bit of confidence to move forward with.
Come on Gab, you can't pretend Murphy has been fit and been more worthy than some of these guys on form. You have to at least admit, we are playing him for personal reasons, and to the possible detriment of the development of others. The rest of the AFL world sees it and has called it, and that is why the ending will be remembered.

Interesting. Who was the Carlton reserves ruckman that Nicholls held back in 1973 and 1974? Must’ve been pretty good to have cost us the 1973 premiership?
