The usually conservative South African cricket captain, Shaun Pollock, has set tongues wagging with a controversial answer in a World Cup player survey. South Africa's 15 man squad were asked, among other questions, who would be their dream dinner compaion.

Eight responded with fomer president Nelson Mandela and there were the usual lost of actors and singers. Pollock, however, nominated the International Cricket Council bribery chief Sir Paul Condon, "so long as it was off the record".

Pollock has always maintained he knew nothing about the side's match-fixing deeds under former captain Hansie Cronje. Sourth African fans are wondering where their captain just wanted to hear the latest gossip or does have a few secrets he wanted to get off his chest.

Can't people say something funny, poke s.h.i.t. at someone (or themselves) without idiots taking it the wrong way, or making something more out of it than what it is worth.

Of course he is going to say that in print, just to let everyone know he was in on it, just days before he could possibly captain his country to WC champions.
