Thoughts on his head high bump on ??Reid?? midway through the third. Was clearly going for the ball, but did make contact to the head and we know how the MRP are about these sorts of things. Are the ground conditions taken into account at all? Very hard to pull up on a heavy, wet track

I was really worried when I first saw it, but on the slo-mo replay you could see that Waite had his head down going for the ball even before he came into frame - long before Reid.

But who knows how the MRP thinks?

Whether he goes or not he and the Club need to look into his continued lack of discipline. He is an awesome talent but for a few years now seems to be playing angry and frustrated. Could have cost us the game last night. Love his hard attack on ball and man but see no need for the show of strength he often puts on after the initial attack.

hard to disagree with that, had 6 frees against, and most, if not all were just wreckless

Well I do disagree with that! Waite may give away frees, but it's nothing more than his attack on the footy and the way he approaches a contest. His energy may contribute to unsociable actions but in no way is his style a detriment to the team. I would say nothing to Waite that might make him 2nd guess himself and his commitment to contest the footy.

Big difference between being hard and being stupid. Throwing guys down well after the ball has gone is not tough and is only going to give frees away. Surely he is mature enough that this can be raised without him losing his hardness.Further if his head is not in the right space then it will also affect his general decision making and composure.

So undiciplined how the hell does he keep throwing it away... So many frees against last night and continually flirts with being reported. Somebody really needs to scream in his face.

I had no issue with this contact. Both had their heads down, both going for the ball, slippery conditions, no injury, play on.

As for his other free kicks, jeez some of them were soft given the conditions. The thing about Waite is that he has really quick recovery, so he is able to get himself back into a contest very quickly due to his athleticism. This means he has a lot of diving, lunging tackles out of pure reflex. Most other players of his size would be still on the ground while the ball was being taken away. If this happened, I am sure he would be bagged for not containing the play.

What is starting to happen now, is that every single free kick he gives away is attributed to his lack of disclipline and stupidity. He gets scragged and pushed out constantly in games and gets no frees for it. He is our only effective tall forward most of the time and I find it funny that our own supporters constantly whinge about us being soft but at the same time abuse the one player who constantly keeps the opposition looking over their shoulder.

I am sure if the MRP decide to send him up for that high contact, that everyone will bleat about how he has let us down again. Honestly, he was going to get the ball and did not try to bump. His option was to pull up from a 50/50 contest and wait and you would have abused him for that too.

I will take this from Waite because any tempering of his style means he loses the instinctive side of his play and that is why I like him.

Seriously, every time he went near the ball he would get a free against. For borderline frees. He is the anti-Juddy: umps don't like him.

I got angry, its ridiculous; the obvious lack of umpy love for him. Last night, IMO, it bordered on discrimination.

He's selfish and Lethal is right, sometimes Carlos looks more in control and disciplined than him. Most frustrating player to follow in the past ten years including Tex. People are still saying ridiculous things like: When dot dot dot happens he will be a champion". Sorry, he's what, 27? No sign of him growing up and bettering his game for the improvement of the team and doubt it will happen now.

Waite was crucified last night, pure and simple and I, for one, thought given the shit he was going through - Umpire wise - he was super composed and kept his head very well.

In fact, at one stage he said "Far out" rather than actually swearing at the Maggot. He's doing his best as far as I can see.

Leigh Matthews said on radio this morning... Waite doesn't know how to play football.

And Lethal is as right as his right hook on Neville Bruns.

Yup. Not only is he selfish and undisciplined, he does incredibly stupid things during general play which are, plain and simply, coach-killers.

On a lead, going flat out, ball always landing short of him by two metres, he decides to dive full length. Only one thing can happen, and invariably ends in Waite being sprawled on the carpet, while his opponent strolls off, ball in hand. Keep your feet FFS!! Basic football fundamentals this guy has very little concept of, nor will he ever have.

Does he know that if an opponent disposes of the ball you're not allowed to sling them to the ground?
Yeah, but he can't see the opponent no longer has the ball if he's giving a driving tackle like he did once last night. I've got no problem with how he played last night other than Ted Richards had the better of him.

A fair bit of Waite hate in here. He can be reckless at times but overall I like the way he plays. Some of those freekicks against him he deserved but others were very soft IMO
