Herald-Sun article today says we've put ina request to play our Adelaide game next year in Geelong. What do people reckon???

I think its a great idea. More money for us and what is the difference to the AFL if its played in Melbourne (if we were more wealthy) or Geelong? Why force us to play interstate if we must sell games.

Not many of us got along to the Freo or the West Coast game and we were almost out numbered v West Coast. Players were not switched on and neither were the Bulldogs fans! It's part of why we lost I think.

My point is.....

I think the crowds were about the 20,000 mark and I would have thought were ideal to play at Geelong or even Princess Park when its fixed up. Better atmosphere with a smaller crowd and we make more money...So up to 2 a year would be ok....provided we then don't have to sell home games interstate.

I actually enjoy the Dome...I hate that we don't get a great deal from it...but its a super place to watch the game if you have your seats organised.

As a Canberra resident I'll miss the opportunity to see them live up here (and indoctrinate the family in the ways of the R, W & B).

However I reckon it's a better deal for the dogs and we should be allowed to play at Skilled. Being against Adelaide it should be a high quality game with a big crowd, hence a fair sort of profit.

The ACT government is playing hard to get at the moment because the AFL has pretty much given them the leftovers in past years. They never get a game with big crowd drawing potential. So while they don't really mind the Buuldogs they aren't rolling out the red carpet and are not keen to pay $400k or whatever the asking price is now.

If the AFL don't allow the match at SS they have to commit full-on to proper compensation of clubs like ours for all the dodgy stuff we are forced to do or miss out on (for the greater good of the AFL), eg Etihad Stadium deal, can't play back to back in Darwin, never get a blockbuster (eg ANZAC Day), dubious scheduling of prime time games, etc.

And when they DO compensate teams like ours and we are no longer forced to play in remote outposts to stay afloat, maybe EVERY team will be required to take a turn playing in such places?

Ha! Fat chance.

I would love to see the Doggies play away from the Dome which in my opinion is a cold, soulless corporate concrete bunker. I really do not enjoy watching games there and we get next to nothing from the current deal which also rankles.

Personally I would prefer we played games at Princess Park as I live quite close to there but the Cattery would also be great for the club on 3 fronts.

1) More money.
2) Better atmosphere.
3) Getting our players more experience in playing on an outdoor ground and getting more exposure to all of the elements to deal with. (rain, wind etc)

I think playing at the Dome for much of the year isn't beneficial because GF's are played at the G as we all know.

These are just my opinions and I am sure many people enjoy watching at the Dome etc.
