Sin from the above mentioned, only Bock was taking in decent money. McLeod and Goodwin from what i understand were the ones that were on the veterans list (half salary in the salary cap). Edwards, Burton and Griffin were not on huge contracts.
Tippet cost them a bucket, so did Dangerfield, Thompson, VanBerlo and Knights. They are fill to the brim so what they have suggested they can afford to attain Walker is in fact right.
Tambling is on a 3year deal in the vicinity of 275-300p/y
Bock, Burton, Edwards and Griffin can't be replaced by Tambling and a few new contracts. Thompson and Van Berlo's should've been reductions anyway. They have heaps of money spare, surely you can work out Rendall is full of it.

From someone close to the club said Edwards and Burton were basically being paid nothing & "were playing for the love of the club" and "were lucky to be on the list this year".

Ah no, have a look at Edwards 2009 season. Any club would've had him on their list this year.

Sin no one would have traded for a then 32-33y/o. Hird won the b&f the year he retired, and Lloyd could have gone on another year, possibly 2. Adelaide realised that there was going to be all these "retirements" come end of this year hence asking/suggesting Edwards take a huge pay cut or risk being delisted. As it happened he "retired effective immediately" half way through the year, something Adelaide were trying to avoid post year 2009.

Who the hell said anything about trading him. My point was he was in bloody near AA form and was not "lucky to be on the list" the following year.

Understand that you didn't mention trading him, however you mentioned that any club would have had him in the form that he was in. Just putting it into perspective, most club would not have needed him. Yes he did have a good year in 2009, but i referenced Hird and Lloyd as examples of players who retired having played reasonably well that year.

Anyways who cares.

They dont have much room in their cap, perhaps they could fit Walks in, but it leaves them vulnerable when their hoping for Jacobs (1mil for 3 years, Davis, Talia, Henderson all need extra cash.

They could easily fit Walker and Jacobs in.

I understand Walker wanting to move and get a fresh start.

But considering a move to port adelaide is scraping the barrel a bit. The smears were struggling to pay their players this year and struggle to half fill footy park.

This Port supporter made my day :D

exactly, a 23yr old gun full back, or a 27?28? yr old superstar chris judd?

with our list being where it is at ild take carlile every day of the week.

while we couldnt find an exact ( as in that good) replacement, players of the star midfielder variety are up for grabs every year in the top 8 or so draft picks. how often in the last ten years has a real good fullback come along?

dont take that out of context sin.

it was in regards to carlton reportedly asking for carlile for walker, which is laughable. i said i wouldnt trade him for any one single guy on your list. someone asked not even for chris judd? and for where our team is at in terms of age and preparing for a go at the gf, a 23yr old gun fb is worth way more than a 28yr old judd to us. you guys know they dont grow on trees.

I think your club would trade Carlile for Kreuzer in a heart beat.

And Gibbs or Murphy.

Port have stated they won't be trading for Walker unless a deal with Motlop is struck, they also won't be parting with any picks for him. So basically, enjoy a disgruntled Walker next year guys.:)

If you knew shit about him you'd know Tex has been disgruntled since 2004. Sack of dumb.

:D You idiot.

As if you wouldn't do it in a heart beat.

Think about it, Port Adelaide won't be contending for a premiership for atleast 3 more years. By that time Judd will be in his 30s and may be retired. Carlisle will be in his prime, for the long term keeping him is so much smarter.

Let me get this straight because POTY nominations are still open. You would rather Whatapatsy Carlisle than Chris Judd on your list next year. Is this correct?

Are you seriously that stupid?

Judd would make your midfield so much better than it is now, he only just turned 27 so will still be a fine player in three years.

This is the funniest thing I've read on BF :D

By the time we are ready to contend for a premiership he will be close to retiring. Your damn right he would make our midfield a hell of a lot better, but not good enough to be top 4.
How can you not get this? I'm not bagging the guy, he's one of the greats, but he would be a waste at our club at this time.

Please post here more often, we haven't had a court jester since Spudchamber got the boot :D

We can't wait for Carlile's prime if his best is Setanta outbodying him and kicking goals on him.

After the week, I'm convinced all that radiation from the testing at Maralinga must have blown south.

That would explain all those thought provoking pissing contests between Port and Adelaide fans on the bay.
