Tell that to the native wildlife feral cats decimate.

Have shot many cats in my time, never had to shoot a dog though.
My Dad shot his Dads dog after it killed a cat at our place if it could kill a cat there was no reason why it couldn't kill a small child of which there were plenty around at that time.

Mind you his dad didn't speak to him for a long time afterwards

If i was to smoke a bowl with a member of the animal kingdom, u kno they'd just chill out and have a few cones to ziggy marley

if i was to blaze with a dog, it'd ****in update its status and start wearing weed leaf hats and hittting lil kids with paddles and shit

My cat would have been passively baked many times.

Your Dad doesn't sound like he's too smart when it comes to animals.

When it walks up and kills a cat it is quite possible for it to kill a small child

I think it was quite a sensible decision

Ah no. Killing a cat on its own property is not a precursor to killing a child.

My Whippet has killed two cats on my property, my Wolfhound one. Neither have the temperament to even consider killing a child.

I think it was a moronic decision. He should have been reported to the RSPCA.

If cats were people, they'd all be James Hirds.

Arrogant SOB's who think the world owes them somethng.

Formerly a cat person, had 3 at one point when i was a kid, felt they just looked more cute, but mum took ownership of a pit bull from a family member that passed several years back.... i'm totally converted to dogs now... just seem to give you more attention, not just show up when they are hungry. Sadly, the dog had to be put down this year... it sucks.

Dogs are pack animals, they congregate and hunt in packs and the Alpha is the one that the other dogs in the pack look up to. Chances are your pet dog sees you as the Alpha and thus it looks up to you.

Cats are solitary animals. They live and hunt alone. They do hang in packs as well but as I understand it, usually where there are kittens involved and other adult cats act like their aunty to help the mum. Cats can socialise with their besties too but generally speaking cats hate other cats.

My wife got my sons a 3 month old kitten and she's now about 6 months old. I don't mind her but there are many things about her and cats in general which I find annoying:

Seems unappreciative.

Unpredictable. You can be petting her and she'll just run off.

Scratches you.

Gotta clean her litter twice a day (not exactly low maintenance but I suppose it's better than dog poop outside).

Cats are too sensitive. You try to play with it like you would a dog and it freaks out. I've read into it, apparently you gotta treat them gently, speak to them softly, hold them a specific way, make sure there's hiding spots for them to retreat, don't play loud music, don't laugh at them, etc. Give me a break.

Dogs hate baths but cats more so. They drink water FFS but try to bath them and they act like you are dipping them in boiling acid.

They sneak outside, sometimes without you realising it, sometimes they make a run for it. One time my kitten bolted out, jumped the fence and didn't respond to my calls. I was outside for nearly an hour. I looked over the fence and could see her playing in the neighbour's yard, completely ignoring me. Was a cold night and my wife insisted I get her inside. I gave up and went to bed. Next morning I went outside thinking she would be by the door, but nope, still in the neighbour's yard, but by now she was petrified. I could hear her little cry meows and I eventually coaxed her back over the fence. As I grabbed her from the fence she gave me a filthy look and a whinge meow like it was MY fault that she ran outside and was locked out all night. Another time she was outside and when I called her in, she refused to come, so I thought fk you, I went inside and shut the door. Next morning, which was a Saturday, I heard the same sooky meow but this time she was on my roof. How she got up there I don't know. And just to get back at me, I found her poop under my outdoor table.

Cats can keep you up at night.

They can damage your belongings. Don't leave your iphone charger lying about.

You have to keep them inside which means keeping you up at night and damaging your belongings.

My kitty will jump on to the dinner table when we're having dinner.

They think the world revolves around them and that you have to get on their terms. How's about I don't feed you for a couple of days, see how you go with your terms then.

They walk all over you. Literally.

People think cats are smart, but I don't hiss and try to attack my reflection in the mirror when I see it.

I'm sure in time I will warm to the kitty but at this stage I think cats in general are a little overrated. All these youtube videos you see of them doing funny things, they are all just highlight reels, no different to getting a 5 day test match, get the best bits and put it in a 2 minute highlight vid. Cats don't act like that most of the time. They sleep up to 18 hours a day. They are actually a bit boring. The only time I find my kitty entertaining or funny, like with what you see in youtube videos, is when she is not trying to be, and even then that's rare. And they are not very productive. I can think of only one thing they are useful for. I'm half hoping I get a rodent problem to see if kitty will be useful for something because at this stage she adds no value to my home. Even my kids would rather be on their ipads when they have chill time. Occassionally the kitty will come up to us without a motive but generally she just does her own thing, she's not even interested in playing anymore since we started letting her go outside for half an hour every day. It's as if she was an afterthought and she's just happy to oblige because being here complements her extremely lazy and non productive life.
