I had my Lucky Meal Pizza tonight, olives, anchovies, hot salami, shrimp and jalepenos, the first one this year from my favourite pizza place. I do believe. I do believe. I do believe.

The hot salami and jalapeños explains the spice in last night’s match!

Hate to be a party-pooper but I think we'd want to be very careful about drinking too much of our own bathwater after this win.

There were some good aspects in terms of the fight and mongrel shown, the continuing emergence of Sanders and Croft, and the general fitness of the group...but...

The Hawks kicked 1.11 (and a few out-of-bounds) and probably win this game 8 out of 10 times if played again. We were out-played and out-coached in the first half, were incrdibly fumbly under pressure, and probably shouldn't have even been in the game.

We hung in though, and were rewarded. It was a tough win, and a character-building one.

If you can't enjoy and celebrate a win like that you might as well stop following footy.

How many of their behinds were rushed, touched or missed due to our pressure?

There are plenty of games we should have won if not for a lopsided goal v behind tally

Yeah there is stuff to work on, but just enjoy beating these arrogant ****ers

It was a clear mark but it made up for the holding the ball we should have got in our forward line a few minutes before.

I don't think it was. There must be some minimum threshold for how long you hold the ball before its considered controlling the mark. The AFL don't specify whether its X milliseconds or Y milliseconds etc. But let's say on average, they'll pay a mark if its controlled for 25 milliseconds, I reckon he held it for somewhere between 20 and 30 milliseconds. So was it a clear mark? No way. It might have been a mark but it was absolutely within the margins where it could go either way.

Thanks Sellwood and Lewis for making it such an enjoyable night. I had way too much fun.

Was good to have those antagonists out there. Felt like it was back to how footy should be. That’s also a shout to the Hawks players they were up for it also and gave and copped.
Gave the crowd energy and got people out of their seats

Nothing like resolving last night with bacon and eggs this morning only bad thing is Mrs won’t make it for me she wasn’t happy.

I love how if a player ruffles another’s hair that’s a high contact taunt but when Watson kicked his stoppage snap goal he gave Sellwood one in the throat to stick it to him and that’s fine.

Sellwood only made two errors on him for the night. He did very well and I thought the commentators were being reactionary suggesting we change the matchup at half time.

On Arty, he makes our front half look so different. Without Sam this year we need a guy like him to scare any defence when he gets his hands on it. The hawks have imo the best backline in the comp but when arty got it they looked very uncomfortable.

I'm happy we turned it around against Hawthorn but McNeil will never be nothing other than a plodder.... Might be a great team man but if we had a full strength side he would never be in the seniors
For every Butters, Bont and Darcy sitting on $1.8m or so, you need some minimum chips guys at the other to balance the cap. If you can get 5-10 serviceable games out of them during the year, they’ve filled their role. Thought McNeil was fine. His last play was shocking but later found out he was concussed so excuse him for that.

I agree with most of this, except the out coached bit.
There is always a potential gap between what a coach asks for and how the players react. You don’t always get what you ask for.

Still marvelling at the balls of steel on Coffield going full pelt in that last 20 seconds intercepting and kicking the shizen out of the ball to win us the game. Unreal.

Also, we talk about Hawthorn arrogance...well, it comes from the top.

Mitchell. "We go into our bye now… we'll finish in the top four with a missed opportunity right in our rear-view mirror."

How good is winning, eh?

(If that spoil of Coffield on Lewis was paid a mark though, this thread would read very differently... sliding doors, etc, etc 🙂)

Selwood destroyed Watson. It's glossed over that Watson kicked a goal while Selwood was off the ground, and another while starting as a center square midfielder. So 1 goal kicked on him in almost an entire game.
Was very odd hearing Garry Lyon go on and on about Watson torching Sellwood and we need to make a change. It's like they don't even watch the game.
