I seem to recall someone saying Hynes hadn't put the work in to develop his endurance 🤔

Credit to Bevo for staying with the Sellwood matchup on Watson. Expected Budarick was the option personally

Sellwood struggled at times on him in the first half, Watson took him up to the contest a few times and beat him back to goal. Sellwood is just a competitor though, absolutely dominated the matchup in the second half. Not only locking him down but had moments he backed himself to leave him and impact other contests. What a find he has been

One reason they lost is arrogance which starts with the coach. The players they have Watson, Sicily and Ginnivan. Followed by their supporters. They think they come from the right side of the Yarra but today they are sucking lemons.

Ps It is about time the league did something about Watson getting in players face everytime he kicks a goal.

"I don't see it with Hynes"
"Hynes is a bust"
"Drop Hynes until he works out how to commit and play"
"Hynes just doesn't have it"

Think there were similar sentiments early about Sanders.

Didn't Confucius say something about a young grasshopper learns quickly playing alongside Bont, Richards, etc?? 😀

Somewhere in sleepy Adelaide last night a plaintive cry was heard across the land of “JUST GET ME THERE!!!”

Was Coffield fired out of a cannon to make that final spoil or what. Incredible speed.

Watson dragging McNeil to the deck behind the play shouldn't be forgotten. A real cheap shot that happened after he got concussed but before he was taken off. Hopefully he's OK.
Interesting to hear Lade say Coffield is very quick. Not always that obvious especially after his injury troubles.

I don't think it was. There must be some minimum threshold for how long you hold the ball before its considered controlling the mark. The AFL don't specify whether its X milliseconds or Y milliseconds etc. But let's say on average, they'll pay a mark if its controlled for 25 milliseconds, I reckon he held it for somewhere between 20 and 30 milliseconds. So was it a clear mark? No way. It might have been a mark but it was absolutely within the margins where it could go either way.
If you watch it from the side, the umpire is in clear view. He starts to bring the whistle to his mouth as coffield punches the ball away, and the ump calls play on.

Hynes have been doinf a heap of gut running the last month or so. Found it strange people have wanted him dropped over the last couple weeks.

How many of their behinds were rushed, touched or missed due to our pressure?

There are plenty of games we should have won if not for a lopsided goal v behind tally

Yeah there is stuff to work on, but just enjoy beating these arrogant ****ers

Dogs inaccuracy - We didn’t deserve it.
Oppo inaccuracy - We were lucky to win it.

Been surprised by how many Debbie Downers there have been in here the last 3 weeks. If epic wins against the Dees, Pies, Hawks in consecutive weeks doesn’t get the juices flowing, after a fairly poor run of games where our season looked over, then you may as well pack it in!

Crazy how quickly he’s developed his tank to be a gun runner, he was literally one of the worst runners on our list in his first preseason. It’s come a huge way in less than two years

Loved Crofts game. Another excellent youngster.
He’s obviously worked pretty hard on his set shots in a short amount of time, he was genuinely one of the worst I’ve seen and he’s pretty reliable right now. Good signs.

I just love him, his speed and aggression is so good to watch. Honestly the sky is the limit for this kid, if he keeps those attributes when he bulks & strengthens up I honestly don’t know what his limits up he’s probably one of the most exciting forwards in the league. When he gets some strength those marks he drops will start clunking

Still marvelling at the balls of steel on Coffield going full pelt in that last 20 seconds intercepting and kicking the shizen out of the ball to win us the game. Unreal.

Also, we talk about Hawthorn arrogance...well, it comes from the top.

Mitchell. "We go into our bye now… we'll finish in the top four with a missed opportunity right in our rear-view mirror."
Mitchell is a great coach, but he is the most arrogant pr*** since Dimma

How good was it seeing the Hawthorn players look so deflated in the second half. They knew they were being steam rolled and couldn't do anything about it. So good being on the other side of that feeling against the arrogant flogs for once.

I think we saw a little something in that last quarter that showed why he was a high draft pick so many years ago.

Love Beveridge calling out our supporter base for McNeil being maligned... "pisses me off"

I’m with Bev on this. I’ve always thought the criticism of McNeil was over the top. I get that he lacks a lot of polish around goals, but he doesn’t deserve to be pilloried for maxing out as a ‘nearly’ player that has given us something useful in a role we have really struggled to fill. For one of the last blokes picked he’s solid.
