She has purebred golden retriever through one side which, considering that she is pitch black, was not what we had guessed the test would show. She's got the awesome golden retriever personality though. Great addition to our family for the kids and the kids-at-heart.

My Kelpie X, Roadie, who's ~ 12/13yo, found her starving & full of ticks near the Litchfield Pub about 10 years ago (an hour or so south of Darwin). Spotted her a few days before we stopped to collect her, she was probably hanging around the pub looking for a feed, she had been desexed and was well trained. We put notices up in case someone was looking for her but luckily for me no one was, so have always assumed some scumbag had dumped her in the area. How people can do that I will never understand, especially considering how great a dog she has been.

I've had a Blue Heeler, couple of Staffies, a Bullmastiff X, Lab X and a couple other very mixed breeds, but the Kelpies are hands down the best dogs, smart as, very friendly & usually obedient except when getting ready for the daily walk;).

Same as my Lab Mix has Labradoodle x Golden Retriever but is black as the ace of spades.

Definitely a dominant gene there from a black lab I'd say. She has Doberman, rotty, & American staffy as well but none are pure black. People are amazed at how shiny her coat is too. She's the first dog I've had since I was living with my own parents 20 years ago. Finally felt right to have one and we've been very lucky with young Pearl. She is a bitch though, I have to say.

We house sat for some friends of ours last weekend. Reason they needed the house to be sat was the Daschund they had left behind.

Great little dog. Just wanted to sit on my lap all the time.

I had exactly the same weekend, looking after a friends dog, Zara.

Dog went in for dental work this morning. Just had a call from the vet to say she died on the table. They managed to bring her back but aborted the dental work and won't put her under again for fear of it happening again and them not being so lucky next time. I feel sick. Not sure how we're supposed to manage a broken tooth and associated gum infections going forward.

Damn, what a terrible fright that must have been.
Main thing is she's okay, I'm sure they'll be able to manage the tooth.
