I thought it would be a good idea to have all the downgrade discussion in one place for convenience. Due to the lack of rookies pushing through some difficulties will arise in the coming weeks.

One thing I have noticed is that many teams are now close to finish so downgrades aren't as important. With the abundance of value in upgrade targets (Montagna, goodes, NDS) I think we who traded safely will get left behind, stuck with all these cows, no cash, and no points. :(

Re: Downgrade options and trading

This week#:
Armstrong, $94k, Adel (Mid)
Dropped last week but possible better JS than first believed. Massive score will make some good cash and surely crows will keep this guy on board with no finals hopes.

Watts, $140k, Melb (Fwd)
Good job security but at a high price. Worth bringing in as an 8th forward. Slightly better option than Wonaeamirri.

Playfair, $101k, Syd (Fwd)
Good scoring so far with an ave of ~60. Bad job security with Sydney's depth and players waiting for a game.

Next week:
O'Keefe, $94k, NM, (Fwd)
Seems like a good pick but again JS is questionable.

Heath, $94k, Syd, (Def)
Good scoring potential with 71 in his first game. Bad JS (Sydney).

Coming rounds:
Dennis-Lane, 89K, Syd (Fwd)
Waiting for this guy all year. Should be a gun but still, Sydney.

Davies, $89k, Blues, (Def)
Should do well. Can only wait and see what happens this week.

McNeil, $78k, Syd (Fwd/Mid)
Only included cos there's lots of talk with this guy. Useful DP option if you have a DP mid, however, not listed yet. Again Sydney.

# I will add whoever I have missed along the way.

So far I have another 4 downgrades to make. Best picks IMO are Watts, TDL, Davies and O'Keefe. Also round 11 is close so hopefully we will have some more rookies elevated and getting games. Where is Koby Stevens?

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Yeah the biggest question I guess is wait for better options or suffer if they don't arrise. Sydney have heaps of people coming through but all would expect to have less than average JS. However, you would think there is a spot for 1 or maybe 2 in the swans side. Just gotta pick the right one, not sure why Playfair is getting no love.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Is Armstrong gonna rise heaps in $$ to make it worth jumping on him? of course depends how well he plays obviously... but generally should I get him in for Martin at the risk of having an undependable bench? (Howlett + Duncan)

The extra $$ would be great next week.. o and who to drop out of Kennelly and Silvagni? want to bring in Boyd next week so may need to kill off 2 cash cows...

But only on 10trades and $45k atm...

Re: Downgrade options and trading

yeh im looking at o'keefe and dennis-lane this week. thinking dennis-lane could be a better option..

Yep this. Of course watts is the best bet, he's safe. But too expensive and gotta look ahead.

Although:
Dennis-lane if your making 1 trade IMO but I'm thinking of getting rid of both gumby and Rockliff (I have the trades).

How about:
Gumby to Watts this week
Rockliff to TDL 2 weeks time when he's peaked

40k extra but rockliff in 2 rounds will make up for the difference I reckon :thumbsu:
Or save 40k for playfair:confused:

Re: Downgrade options and trading

I thought he was excellent in the preseason.

Poised and a good decision maker.

My thoughts exactly, IMO looked very good in the pe-season with sound skills and decision making with a body AFL ready.

I also liked TDL, looked to have flashes of brillance, however struggled in the pre-season @ times. Perhaps if Bradshaw was playing he would get 2nd or 3rd string back which may help.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Positive signs for O'Keefe on the north board. He got interviewed after the game, loved it and wants more so his obviously enthusiastic. The general concensus is that he lead well, presented well and is a natural forward. Had a few first game jitters infront of goal which is natural but they rekon he is very promising and has earned himself a few more games at least. North had some pritty big inclusions this week and his managed to hold his spot! Any north supporters that can add or shed any more light on this? Perhaps his JS isnt to bad??

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Really need to do a FWD downgrade for cash.

Will take a leap with either TDL or NoK.

TDL has age on his side but NoK already has a game and was not too bad. Would've done much better if he put his shots through.

I'm just thinking that Dennis-Lane might be the replacement for Bradshaw and be given a few weeks to earn his spot in the side.

North seems over their injury woes with Petrie back so I'm not sure if NoK can hold off getting dropped.

Re: Downgrade options and trading

Want to pick up Sam Gilbert this week, upgrade Silvagni to him. Also considering getting Duffield in instead, saving 36k..

Need to downgrade Chris Mayne to free up the cash for either of them.

Going to either Watt, Wona or some other forward below those prices such as TDL, NoK etc would free up the cash too.

Argh, don't know what to do!
